I had planned something similar - narrowboatellis.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/ I bought all the bits and bobs - then left them in the attic as just by having the eco fan on the stove pointing towards the bathroom, the whole place is tropical anyway.

Yep, that's my boat. Really piss poor, it's like shite loft lagging in plastic bags about 1" thick. Oh dear! Half the boat (my end) basks in glorious heat from the multi fuel stove. Then there's a walk through bathroom, then a bed/sitting room for my son. This is a great arrangement as the bathroom provides an air-lock between us when we like. But in the rear the roof panels are wringing wet. It's easy to get far too hot in the stove bit, so I was thinking a high level duct to bypass the bathroom might spread enough heat to the rear. The cold can come back under the bathroom doors, there are large gaps. I'm interested in any views as to whether this would work. Perhaps add a computer fan too. Thanks for reading. Could you find a use for some Kingspan/Celotex insulation?

There's no room for it so doorways would shrink in two directions, built in stuff would need adjustment. It might be a better solution just to get another stove. I'll reassess over the winter.π

I would go with ducting from as close to the min stove as possible with either a PC fan or a small bilge fan. Or as suggested better still a small separate stove if there is some where to fit it. Some great small ones about. Or make one This cost be about Β£80 i think, was a while since i made it.Β I love to see a stove with the flue glowing red (giggle)

Doesn't your Webasto with a couple of the forward radiators shut off so it's just heating the bathroom / hot water and your lads space help ?

Our previous boat needed a bit of help getting heat into the heads, the solution was a 90mm pooter fan in the top of the bulkhead between the heads and the saloon. The fan drew air from the hottest part of the saloon and this worked a treat, you could feel the hot air blowing out of the vent in the bottom of the heads door. Phil I've now done similar, a 4" round hole between the kitchen and bathroom. No fan, just the hole at high level and it's made a big difference to the bathroom. I hung bits of tissue paper in front of it and the draught always blows the right way, as I thought and hoped it would. I sited this experimental hole so if we decide to we can continue it through to the bedroom with a duct and then make another one somewhere else for bathroom heat if it still seems like a good idea. Thanks for posting your real life experience, always more valuable than theory. π

For your amusement, this is my insulation. That's right, this is it, steel hull, this totally breathable fluff glued on, then ply panels, no vapour barrier. I dread to think how sodden it's likely to be.

Ducting to send heat around, they have 60mm ish ducting in caravans, with outlets that are point able and closeable. A little laptop fan might suffice, or a funnel converter to use the larger fans at the inlet.

What about a smog pump ? A bit noisy but they shift shitloads of air through relatively small diameter pipe You could put it on a timer to come on every ten minutes for a few seconds just to blast hot air for a short time then shut off. I bought a scrap one. Have not actually used it for anything yet but it certainly blows a bit of air about when wired to a 12v battery !! Look at this on eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292204044634

I know you city dwellers are used to constant roaring noise pollution and sirens, alarms and whatnot, but where we moor absolute peace and quiet. A fan like that would annoy me. A computer fan would annoy me. My perfect fan would be slow revving and only shift say 1cu m air per minute. I once had a 1940's GEC desk fan. The only noise it made was the moving air rustling things.
