It seems like some people have more money than sense. or they want a lifelong project they can pour heart n soul and finances into.... these old ships/aircraft etc can become an obsession. There r worse things Some time ago I knew a guy who owned a wooden motor. I have forgotten the name of it. The boat was in a predictable state; there were some old and faded painted panels in the bow which cunningly concealed the dreadful condition of the woodwork in that area. He showed me a 'book' a previous owner had made, which began something like: "I have fallen in love with this wonderful historic boat and have decided on a plan; to rebuild [name of boat]." It was only a few pages long, but what this mainly demonstrated was that the author had big dreams, but that's all they were. As far as I know this boat no longer exists. Still, sometimes really unlikely things do happen. As you say, other people endeavor to do awful deeds, and in the end it's his funeral. Or perhaps he'll end up with a nice boat. As the poster with no name has pointed out, there's one for sale in a very nice state with seemingly no major work required and if you have the dough to rebuild a terrible wreck then you also have the dough to buy something nice in the first place and proceed directly to g&ts on the poop deck. It makes me wonder how much dosh he already has in it. Also he may be loaded and possess awesome welding skills, although generally speaking, the two things don't go together.

I guess if it's possible to turn this... Into this... Then pretty much anything is do-able given enough time, energy, funds and enthusiasm.

Also the train can't sink. Whilst I'm the first to admit I'm not the best person to take technical advice from.
IMO the train will sink if you put it into deep water.

I was chuffed to bits to see those pictures.
Shame if they have to start using smokeless briquettes.

I was chuffed to bits to see those pictures. Shame if they have to start using smokeless briquettes. There would still be gaseous Dihydrogen Monoxide coming out of the chimney. Plus the benefits of a lovely aroma.

Lovely aroma ? From Ecowl? I don't think so. They could use heatlogs or coffee briquettes. In the olden days, when you were nobbut an eye in your father's twinkle, trains in cowboy movies were fuelled by logs. Their wheels went backwards too.

I know you were in Baghdad when I was in my dad's bag but other than that I like real coal.
Gor some columbian doubles on at the moment actually. They get the heat out nicely. Sadly availability is going to get awkward soon.
Do like the black stuff.
