Now I have learned how I will resize the pictures.
Westbury House - The long Awaited Visit.
We had planned the visit quite well and using Google maps sort of worked out a way to the house. There are some houses at the entrance and apparently they are quite nosy so we knew we had to have an element of stealth. So a Plan was put together. On a cold dark and wet January Sunday, alarms going of at half 5. We left and drove the half hour journey in darkness. Parking up in the village and walking the mile or so along country lanes we eventually got to the woods behind the property, Clawing our way though the woods and some boggy fields, the house appeared in front of us, looking a bit run down and a shadow of its former self. At this point excitement started building and with confidence of not being able to be seen we just walked across the open field towards it.
We had heard the entry point was in the annexe to the right. however when we got there the wall we planned to scale was a bit much for my mate, So after a quick scout around the back an open window to the basement was found. This was a bigger bonus than we had realised.
It was quite dark in there but with most of those windows boarded we were happy to use torches. The janitors workshop, a pool, Various store rooms and the kitchen were all down there, we explored half of it before working our way up to the ground floor.
Upon moving up it got lighter due to no boarding, And Oh my we were instantly treated to such amazing scenes. What I like about this place is that even though the top two floors have some graffiti and rooms have been turned over, this floor was pretty much untouched, I do not know the reason but like to think it is out of respect.
I wont go into the top two floors they were not as grand as the ground floor although I will show a few photos.
That paper was from February 1981, there was a sun, express and a mirror from that day. I tried to read through them and see what was special to keep them but I could not find it.
Now the main event, the ground floor. I do not think any words I can write will do It any Justice so I will just park them here and let them speak for themselves, everywhere we went it just kept giving.
The bookshelves are a original as can been seen in a old photo of when it was a school.
Now I like derelict properties and fascinating old industrial places but as an explore this was lovely and a rare Gem. We saw a car outside but it soon left but on going back to the basement to explore the wing that we had not done earlier due to the darkness we heard footsteps. We could hear the estate agent showing someone around. Luckily and heres where the bonus luck comes into play we were right next to the room we entered in. so packed our gear away and headed for the woods for the long but content walk back to the car.
I hope I have not bored you, We visited A vineyard and Wine bar last night with an abandoned cannabis farm.
