Been away for only a bit less than 1 hour, and to my surprise when I came back to the boat, the huge tree wasn't attached to the crane on the stern of my neighbours barge, it had gone. So with a bit of luck, I won't be kept out of my night rest by the loud banging noises the tree made against the bottom of my boat, at about 1 meter underneath my bed. The only thing I'm a bit sad about is that I didn't have a chance to take a photo of the culprit when it left drifting downstream. But I'm very happy it's gone. Peter. Hurrah ...good nights sleep ahead....vino, good book.... Yes Patty, this is a real reason for a loud HURRAH, and it would be ever so nice if I could have a good night sleep, being a T-total, I've never ever even tasted wine (and that while living in Burgundy, it's a crime !) so no alcoholic beverages for me, but the good book yes, thanks to Foxy and his sister, arrived today at the right moment, so I will read a few pages before I try to catch some sleep. Peter.

Peter. tell u what ..I'll do the vino bit....Ive had a stressful day and it helps dull the 'I wanna batter someone" feeling .....sometimes I just know some people go beyond the pale and take advantage.... TBH I'm very tired of stuff.......

Take care out there patty. I've got a nice leather cushion for you to sit on when we do the Thunderboat Tower Bridge cruise. The great thing about the Thames tideway is that you don't need a license so even if my boat is licensed as "Breakaway" on the canal and non tidal river I can put up canvas name banners with "Thunderboat" for the tidal bit and use that name over the radio and it's all legal

As long as you have the operators licence to use the VHF, it could be legal. Peter.

Yes I hold a UK marine VHF operators license. AFAIK that means I can be on any boat and use my own handheld set and the boat name for communication.

No idea if the handheld VHF has to be registered in the UK, but even if it has to be and it isn't, nobody will kill you for using it (within the first 5 minutes following ) Peter.

Are you back to normal with river levels (and sleep) now? Rog Hello Rog, the level of the river is still going down, only about another 75 cms to go and it will be back to the normal level. The current is slowing down nicely too, so when some of the flotsam hits my boat at night, it's not such a loud bang anymore, and I can have some rest again. If it go's on the way it's going right now, I expect everything to be beck to sort of normal in about 1 week. Peter.

I've just been out, looked around many corners, but think that I must have missed the next corner, as I didn't see sunshine Peter.

We've had quite a few sunny days this last week. Glad to hear the flood waters are receding and your getting some sleep again.
