mjg I seem to remember reading about this before. Was it in a restricted speed 2 lane narrow section? And the truck pulled out to let someone in from a slip road? The 2 lane works system with reduced speed (less maneuvering space) is very dangerous for exactly this reason. I never drive alongside a large vehicle in the situation I'd rather leave a gap. Yes it was restricted. We were moving slowly alongside. The lanes were moving at various speeds. You are confusing this accident with another you have read about. He came from the outside lane to the inside, so therefore there was no traffic to come into his lane from a slip road. We were making use of all the available road space which is generally regarded as the best thing to do. The accident was entirely his fault. His lane was slowing so he thought he would switch lanes. If he had indicated and paused before manouvering Jan would have held back. He didn't he indicated and manouvered simultaneously.

Left hand drive also causes problems. If it had been a left hand drive lorry I think he would actually have seen us in this instance. That was the side he hit us with.

Yes I am confusing it with someone else. Sorry about that Does seem odd for a large vehicle to change lanes so quickly.shame it wasn't picked up by a camera.

The area was monitored by cctv due to the road works. The police called the control but claimed the images were not of sufficient quality to be able to ID the wagon. The speed with which we were scooped up and deposited at the next services by the free recovery was very impressive though.

I spent 10 years as a rep for an optical company and had a few shunts up my rear but only had a real doozie on the day I handed in my notice. I was travelling home on the A17 from Newark, nothing in front of me and I knew there were no side roads joining Approaching me was a line of mixed traffic, lorries vans and cars. We were closing at about 120mph when as they started to pass me a mini pulled straight out from behind a loŕry. I had a split second to decide what to do....hit it head on or go off road...no brainer . I went down a steep deep dyke hoping to scrub of some speed and at the bottom I eased the wheel round to go up, sadly taking off at the top before landing on the carriageway, but there was more traffic so I went off the other side it was at this point my luck ran out because there was a dry stone wall at the bottom of the dyke on this side of the road. I was treated to a wonderful display of sky earth sky earth as the car summersaulted nose to tail Lost front and rear screens which was handy because when the car came to rest I couldn't open the doors . I got away with a seatbelt bruise, the 1.6 Orion was a write off and despite someone getting the number of the mini the police were unable to track it down So that's my little prang Phil

Im going to dump this in this thread. Had a puncture this morning. No issue swapped it for the spare. Coming home down the A34, guess what. Yep, had another. At least the AA membership with lloyds bank came in useful as we had no spare. Picked us up and took us home. Tomorrow chores are two get two tyres done. R.E the bank account, yes we pay for it monthly but this month I'm getting a new Samsung s7 with the phone insurance and now we've just used the AA to get recovered home. Well we dident use it but had the travel insurance policy with us in Cyprus. With the monthly fee, without doubt.

How old are those tyres, and what make? And made in which country? What caused the punctures?
