As loafer correctly points out........alcoholics go to meetings. I will worry about my drinking on the morning I have a drink for breakfast. I hate getting drunk. It's a horrible feeling, so I strive to avoid it and usually manage without too much effort. Other than that I'm afraid I have a drink if I fancy one, and don't bother if I don't. What I drink varies wildly as there's little I don't like (especially if it's your round) Got to go, need another pint Rog I've been kmown to sit down and have a beer at about 7am. but that's normally if I have just finished a 16 hour shift

I usually start about 11am. Being one of those people who does not earn a living makes me more prone to this I believe. If I had a job I would do that instead.
But I don't have a job. Okay there is the Mi6 consultancy but I only have contracts occasionally. When I do have work I just drink tea. No coffee.

Does your 'consultancy' work include using heavy machinery, torture equiptment or semi automatic weapons? Its not good practice to drink whilst operating these things!π

Usually there is a 24h "tea only" cooling off period . Yes I do use heavy machinery and occasionally some semi and fully automatic firearms but due to my zero BAC at the time it doesn't cause problems. This is one advantage of freelancing.

I'm a bog standard alcoholic. 10+ units every single day. Only exceptions is if I go over the top and don't fancy it the next day. Commercial lager or cider for me nothing particularly interesting. I drink alone and rarely visit pubs. I'm pretty much a carbon copy of this. I tone it down a bit if I have to work the next day and up the ante a bit if I don't. I'm not very quality discerning and simply make drink choices on a "cost per unit of alcohol" basis, which generally means a crate of Karpackie at 9% from Mr Patel's emporium in Coventry for Β£33, although I'm drinking a bottle of Tsingtao at the moment as Tesco etc are a bit snobby about selling tramp fuel nowadays. Like all alcoholics, I can rationalise away my addictions and I justify drinking super strength lager on the grounds that I have a toilet that needs emptying on a regular basis and it is counter-productive to drink weaker beer since this simply means more trips to the Elsan for the same psychotropic effect.

Have you considered pissing in a 1 litre plastic milk carton with the top cut off? Its even got a handle. I do this even though I have a free pump out on my mooring.

Yorkshire tea and if I need a dopamine boost possibly a bit of green tea. I never drink coffee.

One of my alcoholic friends who also lives on a boat with misses and children told me he pisses in the sink. I think he was serious. He's quite a tall bloke about 6'2 like me and he's thin too but at the end of the day its shocking bad form to do this sort of thing. There is a code !

I read somewhere about some silly liveaboard bint with a pump-out toilet who used to use a pump attachment on a Black and Decker drill to empty her holding tank directly into the canal which worked fine for about five years until all that was left in the tank was a mass of solidified shit which no marina pump-out could remove, resulting in her having to sell the boat.

Always baffled me why noone fits urinals on their bathroom wall, emptying directly into canal...seems the ideal solution to meπ It's do-able but would need to be quite large and have splash-guards and also some sort of regular cleaning system or it would stink and become unhygienic. At the end of the day it's not really worth it when so many other options are available to a gentleman. Ladies have more trouble. A she-wee is one option but again I think it would want cleaning. Eta another thing to consider with a urinal is that the skin fitting would ideally protrude from the hull side to prevent dribbling and corrosion but a protruding unit would get broken when going through locks. Stick with a one litre plastic milk carton with the top around the lid cut off.

I never had a pump out system until I landed on this mooring which has no-charge pump out to each berth. I fitted a lavac sea toilet discharging to a 100 holding tank and I put in my own design fresh water flush with float switch and solenoid valve to remove the possibility of cross contamination. The toilet uses loads of water for flushing so the tank always has a lot of liquid in it. Free pumpout so not a problem. On my other boats which do not have moorings I use cassette systems. Filling a pumpout tank with solids is not going to result in positive outcomes.
