we're in the "layby" at Appley lock until early next week. It's the "duck race" on Sunday which we'll walk back to. Im heading up there Saturday afternoon with another couple of boats for a picnic and the like🍻🍸🍾 Think Derek the diesel on Ambush may be due past this weekend if you need filling. If you're coming in the layby, you'll have a bit of reversing to do - we've shuffled up a bit more now (3 boats here at present) but there's certainly room for 2 - maybe 3 at the back near the old lock. Andy's even taken Eddie's sheers and cut some nettles down so we can look over the fields lol.

Yea, I'm the same and I'm gutted. I won't even be able to watch the football either. Tomorrow will probably be the most tragic day of my life.

Eddie on the boat we're travelling with has sky and has offered us use of his dish - provided it doesn't interrupt his football ... alas, having used their whirly gig today (and subsequently watched THEM drying washing on a clothes horse like what we've got) it would be a step TOO far...
We did bring them back some water today though when we went to fill up first thing....

Humanitarian Work has begun - clearing the homeless off the streets of Windsor so as not to spoil their wedding! So all the rough sleepers have been sanitised if that is the case why haven't they shifted all the rough sleepers draped in Union Jacks etc surely they are sleeping on the streets the same as the homeless. apparently this is the definition of nfa.
In law, no fixed abode or without fixed abode is not having a fixed geographical location as a residence. This is applicable to several groups:
People who have a home, but which is not always in the same place:Those whose occupation requires them to live permanently on boats, ships or movable oil platforms, or to travel constantly (as showmen, for example).
I always thought the only time it would be an issue is if convicted or released on bail.
however they just make you report to the police station once a week.
vagrency is very different to nfa

What about if you have a 'contact address'? The DVLA wanted to take my British Driving Licence away 9 years ago as I don't live in Britain. I said I don't think so - I've paid for all those driving lessons and the licence!! Then they said OK you can keep it if you can provide an address in the UK so's we can get in contact with you.
Surely any 'contact address' is good enough for any 'continuously cruising' boater?

Surely any 'contact address' is good enough for any 'continuously cruising' boater? Yes, that's what I have, my address in Ramsgate. Technically it is my home address, my mail goes there, I have the key to the front door and could go there right now if I wanted, but I'm not obliged to spend any minimum amount of time there. It often puzzles people when I turn up for work in Coventry/Rugby and they ask to see my driving licence but when I explain that I live on a narrowboat they think I am Mr Supercool.
