Ah have we taken Foxys thread off topic..terrible Patty, good luck with the viewing. Thanks for the heads up on Skipton Castle. We went yesterday, and loved it. Rog To continue with the successful de railment of Foxy's thread..they both plus father in law to her loved the house...however she wants to 'keep' the family home and have this as a second..anticipate a crappy offer coming in which I will decline...Ive worked too hard here..have figure in my mind that ill accept...if she doesn't sell this year then there is always next and now I've delayed travel plans she can stay on the market. I looked at an apartment..no garden in secure setting which may tick the boxes...again no hurry as these places come up all the time. Family have lined up several terraced shoeboxes for me to view..

Always a happier experience to regret what you did, rather than what you didn't do.
Hold out for your own dreams Patty.

Foxy, I'm a bit dissapointed that you haven't done an oil change yet. Ha! Finally got to shove, with some force I might add, a transparent plastic pipe down the dipstick tube and sucked up 1.2 litres of engine oil (max = 1.6 litres)! It's like being in Texas with all that black gold gushing up! If you haven't done an oil and filter change for some time, I'd suggest doing another one fairly soon, say after 10-20 hours of running. Mine had been neglected for a while when I bought it and it took three oil & filter changes before the filter stopped showing signs of sludge.

Have you only changed the filter once?

Consulting my notes, they say engine oil 1.2 litres last changed 5th Aug 2017. In October and at Christmas we only went to Hebden Bridge & back. And in Feb/Mar just to Brighouse & back. And then 2 months ago I took the boat to Halifax & back. 30th July 2017 - 1.4 litres engine oil changed 27th July 2017 - 1.1 litres changed 19th July 2017 - 1.0 litres changed 8th July 2017 - 1.3 litres plus Mahle filter (still have that Mahle on) 29th June 2017 - 1.3 litres 21st June 2017 - 1.2 litres 4th March 2017 - 1.3 litres 30th Dec 2016 - 1.2 litres 22nd Oct 2016 - 1.1 litres 21st Oct 2016 - 1.0 litres 16th Oct 2016 - 1.1 litres Aug 2016 - 1.0 litres July 2016 - 1.7 litres June 2016 - 1.0 litres May 2016 - 1.1 litres Jan 2016 - 1.0 litres Aug 2015 - 0.9 litres 29th July 2015 - 1.1 litres 19th July 2015 - 1.1 litres 3rd July 2015 - 1.2 litres before this irrelevant as engine was renovated and it started life in its re-incarnated form in June 2015. Do you want me to list gearbox oil changes? How many were necessary?

We're now in a pub in the Caliphate of Dewsbury and there's a sign saying 'No pyjamas' - now, is that ambiguous or what? Probably a reference to the not so yummy mummies who drop kids off at school in PJ's and then go Tescoes in PJ's...guess if they do those 2 things perhaps they also frequent pub in that attire...reminds me of.... I used it be a school governor and once went to a meeting with my PJ's under my clothes...all went well until I stretched my legs out...jeans rode up to reveal...PJS underneath...When I told the kids they were not amused...

Midnight's a good bloke. Some of you 'rough boys' on here intimidate him though You never know he might come over if you and Telemachus can cut out the profanity Rog

We moored on the tops between Bank Newton and East Marton. The only noises are sheep and bird calls. It is utterly peaceful and we are totally alone I've been sat out all evening, allegedly fishing, but actually feeding a pair of swans. The sun has set and it's starting to go dark. It's still and the water's taken on that 'mirror' effect. Bliss. Rog

Apparently 'tinned sweetcorn' is acceptable alternative to bread for swans..watched young woman feeding a pair with their 4 cygnets...they loved the stuff.
