I hope the weather is OK. I've got to do approx 30 hours of yotting - Saturday 3pm until Monday 3pm. With sleeping and eating in between the work. Henley on Thames to Lechlade. Canal plan says 33 hours I'll try to shave off 10%.

We had a mega run through the Levels and did it in a respectable 7.5 hours door to door Stanground to Salters Lode. Canalplan had it at 8.75 hours, we can't bash along at big licks because the bottom is mostly too close to the top. A 3.75mph average was achieved mainly because there was no bugger else moving that could hold us up 🚢🍻👍

10% off sounds about right for the default settings.
If the weather is reasonable on Sunday I might go for a long day. Arriving on boat Saturday evening then have a short cruise so probably be up at 5am on sunday. That's a good start time as it allows a long day. I'd like to do 18 hours but it rather depends on weather.
5am-midnight is something I have not done before but would like to. Probably have to stop once or twice for rations.

Earlier this year with my boy along we did five locks (Audlem flight) in 35 minutes. Single-handing and with locks that need turning I'm lucky if I can do two in that time.

Extra hands definitely make a big difference, for the first time in I don't know how long I didn't have to empty, fill then empty again the laborious and slow Ashline lock at Whittlesey. Major time saver there. Don't the old twats on CWDF call that a good road?

On the Thames above Oxford crew might reduce time a little bit but as far as Osney lock there is public power on all locks so as long as that power is working crew would make no difference. Anyway I always like doing all the boat related things myself - its much better if anyone else who happens to be on the boat or near it just keeps out of it

Either that or it was invented by some bird in the DIWE Department of Idle Women Etc

I love early morning starts, rouse the dog out of his pit, feed him, get a brew on, take him for a walk to empty him then get back and get going with Mrs Gazza and the Dwarf still tucked up in bed.
No one else moving on the river - it's bliss

No one else moving on the river - it's bliss Late nights are good too but awkward with other people aboard to be fair. That's why I like it by myself. . Last run from Hampton to Henley 10 days ago ended at 1.30am because of being fog bound and I ended up zigzagging across the river despite knowing in my head exactly where to go. Once you lose sight of the river banks its very awkward ! Was enjoyable though. I would have gone for another hour if it wasn't for the fog !
