Just did the calculations for this year's cruising.
Alas, I won't be going anywhere until March 2017, I have to work until then. Maybe one day I will find a rich sponsor (hint, hint) so I can go cruising all year round...

But it makes the trip so much better when you've earned and worked for it.
That's what I tell myself at this time of year anyway.
I think it works.
Sort of.
Roll on spring.

Why no boating at Christmas? If the canals are still liquid.

Shapfell is out of the water for the winter. She needs some work on the cooling water inlet/valve and renovation of the rudder assembly. Sabina H needs the electrical installation of the generator completing. The solar panels installing, which involves making a steel frame to support them. The 24v wiring panel shuffling about to accommodate the extra kit. The mast lowering (which involves the fabrication of a new mast rest, the old one had to be cut away when the skylight was replaced)The anchor winch batteries replacing. The steering system needs an overhaul. The engine needs a service. New sidelight screens making ....... and probably a hundred different things that I will find as I do the other things So No Foxy ........ No Christmas boating for me !!!

Why no boating at Christmas? If the canals are still liquid. We have been out cruising on Christmas Day and Boxing Day in the past, but this year I'm going to spend some time with my girlfriend in Ramsgate, as she can't get away due to her having to work sporadically over the holiday.

This week's news. First-born (by one minute) son passed his driving test on Thursday, so hopefully he'll be able to visit soon. Bought this on ebay for my Mum for Christmas, she does love a jigsaw puzzle. Just went for a wander to try to capture the scene on camera. That's Naughty Fox's favourite chandlery in the background. That's all for now I think. May go for a cruise next weekend, although I do enjoy just sitting on the mooring and watching the world go by.

The latest news is that I might be getting the boot from my job next week and if I so I will probably head off cruising again in early January. I'm not sure how far north I will be able to get because of stoppages, I'll have a look at that when I'm home over Christmas.

I have just filled in a licence application form and signed section 8 to say I have read and accept the licence conditions.
I found it preferable this year just to sign rather than use the NABO caveat.

You must have passed us today moored outside the arm. Did we give you a wave? The Whitchurch arm is run and owned by a trust. www.whitchurchwaterway.uk
