My dad used to live here: I have cut that lawn with a petrol Flymo, and been up the tower a few times. That's the back side of Frogmore Hall, near Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire.

An electric E-type would look good parked there. Drop in reversible electric conversion is available if needed. You can always put the original unit back in. Maybe best to get a couple of them or even better 4 so you can have a 3.8 a 4.2 a V12 and an "E type" E type. Just use whichever one you fancy on the day.

It would be logical I suppose, what with most cars spending 95% of the time being unused. The only question is how the next hirer will feel after I have used one to take six bags of festering rubbish and a leaky Thetford cassette to the sanitary station. And the blood stained sheets...

I can see a lot of business to be made out of converting existing internal combustion cars to electric. Are there any companies doing it yet?

The slimy Indians who now own Jaguar do an electric replacement unit for the e-type. Not sure if anyone else does anything but it seems like an interesting option for classic or expensive cars.
I expect for newer every day cars it might not be worthwhile in terms of cost. It would always be a limited market because people want new cars so probably would not compete with genuine electric cars.

Self driving trucks is what we need, a middle lane on the motorway just for them, they pick up and deliver at night only.
Save hitting bridges and screwing up the road system, for what, a few loaves of bread and tins of beans. pah!

Was your father the Butler, Bell Boy or the Priest? It was common to turn big houses into a loony bin. Perhaps that's the answer.

Was your father the Butler, Bell Boy or the Priest? Lord of the Manor, whole place to himself. There was an 'apartment' made of some rooms on the left hand side (see photo), the window on the left being one end of the living/dining room. Otherwise the whole place was empty, just a few rooms downstairs a 'cellar' level being used as storage for telephone cables and telecommunications equipment. He worked for Standard Telecommunications Laboratories (physicist, later Training Manager), and the flat in Frogmore Hall was rented/leased from the company for around 10 years. This is where I learnt to ride a bike, and drive a car (private access roads).
