To be entirely honest and without a trace of humour I think this forum relies on people posting otherwise it will sink like the crt workboat at little Venice.
Its been a bit awkward lately as there are one or two or several regular posters with other things happening which reduce their input.
I like the forum but I think it may be under threat.
Obviously there is the whole facebook shit going on as well. I don't use that platform myself as I think is the porn of the devil but their main aim is to wipe out independent forums.
So the question is who are the Fafacebook trolls on here ?

That's the wooden former FMC boat isn't it?. UCC also had a steel pleasure boat called Clent 50ft long. Yes it is. As with most wooden boat restorations, there is not much of the original left! Has it still got the Bolinders hit 'n' miss one lunger in there ?

I must say that as far as I am concerned the only reason to have a semi diesel would be for that fantastic tick over ...... I suppose you could have an electric drive and a loud sampler playing

I suppose you could have an electric drive and a loud sampler playing And a smoke ring generator. The thing with a smoke ring generator if it was properly designed you would be able go get the smoke rings when required ie when there is an audience then switch it off to avoid the nuisance.

I was about to say earlier in the thread but my impending reply mysteriously disappeared: Those Keralan houseboat trips you read about in the brochures, apparent blissful days cruising pristine waters, passing charming islands with friendly folk crafting their living off the land. The reality:
Board monstrous ships filled to the brim with fat tourists paying more attention to their cameras than the moment. Nearly wipe out several villages with bow waves from said ship in order to complete the day's schedule. Pull up at the one village where it's deep enough to moor, along with the other 57 boats. Make your way inland with the other 1000 odd people, carefully avoiding the turds strategically left by the kindly local fisherman. Experience the pleasure of hawkers selling overpriced tatt to over rich tourists in a captive market, surrounded by the odour of shit.
On the other hand, go pretty anywhere along the coast: the fishermen still shit on the beach but the Indian ocean provides a twice daily flush. Sometimes it can even seem clean. Experience foods and goings on that you won't find in any brochures without the constant annoyance of some fat American prick blurting out in an over loud voice stupid questions like "Hey you guys are Hindus, do you like the Muslims?"
My very best tip for a top travel experience is to look at the brochures, including cruise stops. Put a big cross through the map in these places. That then leaves you plenty of interesting places to go to, where you can have a great time.
