We've seen the shocking traffic snarl ups in Warwick, and learned that it's as a consequence of a bad accident on the M40 involving a number of HGV drivers.
Jane's worried about Vince, and so that I can reassure her ...
are you alright stabby?

Yes, I went to Pontefract today so I wasn't caught up in it, apart from being delayed slightly on the M6 between junctions 2 and 3 on the way back by traffic using the M1 and M6 to avoid the M40.

Thanks, and Jane's from the Pontefract area (South Kirkby) and her Dad was schooled there, which is totally irrelevant.
Glad you're safe. It can be dangerous out there.

No Pontefract Cakes were harmed during this thread. I took wire coils there. Place was a nightmare to get into, and even worse to get out of, blindside reverse onto a busy road. Nice friendly people at the factory though. No doubt Pontefract cakes are made in somewhere like Zielona Gora nowadays.

No, not made in Poland, but still made in Pontefract by Haribo. Can't stand them personally, but Jane finds them very moving Rog

Haribo - Danish? Swedish? The railway from Castleford goes to Pontefract, as I recall. England is full of quirky places.

I've had Pontefract cakes in the dim and distant past and I don't recall finding them objectionable. I'll get some this weekend if Morrison's sell them and see how I get on with them. The liquorice sweets Foxy brings from Finland on occasion are always sublime.

My sisters, when we were nippers, used to chew liquorice root which looked like twigs and tasted worse.
Liquorice has never really been my sort of confectionery.

There used to be tiny Liquorice parallelogram-shaped sweets called "Imps" which were sold in a small cardboard box, a bit like a matchbox, when I was younger. Haven't seen them for ages. Or Victory Vs.

Remember Imps, which were hot (in a tin too) and Victory V's.
Seen Fisherman's Friends but not Victory V's.
I prefer chocolate of any description.
