From TrucknetUK.com: "Simple answer to your question why it keeps happening. Go down the m6 through the roadworks and look at all the HGVs 2 inches from the one in front with the driver having some delusional idea that heβs making more progress and getting there quicker by driving like that. Why do trucks keep going into the back of other vehicles? Thatβs the answer." "No, it's not a new thing but it is far more prevalent than ever before. In the days before limiters it was quite rare to see a truck following dangerously close but now it's a common sight. Of course the roads are a lot busier these days but it all boils down to one thing. Self control, something fewer drivers seem to have these days. They simply do not know when to back off." 4 years ago Aug 2014, company I work for - again, too close to car in front which slowed down to turn left, bus swung to left to avoid hitting that car, and smashed into another car coming the other way, killing the 19 year old girl driver of the car. Still, driving too close to the vehicle in front continues to this day, car up my arse this morning at 90km/h - I too was going to turn left and as my forward speed was almost zero at the turn, I thought What a Moron You Are, because he/she also obviously had to brake with me.

So what's the best course of action to deal with arse sniffing elephants? I dab my brake to flash the lights initially. If that doesn't work I gradually slow down a bit, create a bigger gap in front then accelerate into it.

I followed him, I was with the Dwarf who was 14 months old at the time, I wouldn't have been much help to anyone at the scene. Can't believe that's 3 years ago.
