"Thank goodness that we overburdened taxpayers are no longer expected to subside the university education of these morons. Although I abhor their shocking decision not to support Remembrance Day or the sale of poppies, my first instinct is just to be grateful that my taxes are no longer being used to help support them through university. I do, however, find it ironic that they are so against helping to support the families of those who died to give them the freedom to protest in this manner. I don't suppose any of them is bright enough to realise that if it hadn't been for the sacrifice of so many of our brave troops over the years, they would never be allowed to behave in such a dreadful way. Shocking, just shocking.....and all the more so because at least some of these people are the politicians and leaders of tomorrow. Scary or what?!!" www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6259837/Cambridge-University-Students-Union-row-Remembrance-Day-motion.html

One of my favourites, and an appropriate day to sit back and enjoy, if you can afford about 35 minutes of your day.

......... and Corbyn couldn't even be bothered to wear a decent dark suit, smart shoes and a proper coat - a hooded anorak is not my idea of being respectful to the millions who have died needlessly in wars since 1914. He was shown up by dozens of commonwealth representatives, as well as the Irish and German guys.

My temporary neighbour was not wearing 'your' correct attire when he stood outside his boat next to the flag he had erected yesterday for a couple of minutes whilst he wiped away a tear - not sure of his story other than he is clearly old enough to have served through the 2nd WW. Judge not on appearance...

Corbyn follows his own pathway of beliefs.. For me I could set him aside..the other people there and elsewhere showed that we all have respect and appreciate the sacrifice made then by our young men Its been a deeply moving weekend and one I would have liked to have been in London for. Watched the Festival of Remembrance and I thought that was kinda special. I just wish the World could live at peace.

The only way we can give thanks to those who paid the ultimate price is to remember them.

I thought you said you were born in this country? My mum is 98. She didn’t fight for this country, but she did her bit. She will probably have to sell her home to pay for her final care like many people these days. She won’t get crowd funding though. So what have you done for this country Foxy?

I hate all the pomp and ceremony associated with the 11/11 day.
Remember them. Quietly. No cannons.

Each to their own..I don't particularly like cannons as I think it affects our PTSD struggling service personnel but the grandeur of the marching/music/pomp I find moving. Silent reflection is a individual thing. I spend a lot of time sitting thinking/reflecting on lots of different things. No one way is right or wrong

Whilst Corbyn and many others have their own beliefs and views on various wars, including Iraq, this wasn’t a justification or endorsement of the rights and wrongs of war it is simply to remember the men and women doing their duty to defend their country and dying for it. All politicians should remember that and have respect for those following the ‘orders’ of the government of the day.
