I think it is important to note it is the Basingstoke canal, one we all know is owned by a council.
so therefore they have control of the tow path,

The picture of the boats was on the bend just below Hanwell flight, nowhere near the Basy

Hate cyclists on the towpaths in London Hate Speech is a crime. "Come on people now Smile on your brother Everybody get together Try to love one another Right now" Foxy a Nirvana fan. I'd never have guessed that - knocked me sideways that has.

The picture of the boats was on the bend just below Hanwell flight, nowhere near the Basy that may be the case but probably more lazy journalism than anything. the second paragraph is Bike users have been told to slow down and give way to walkers along the Basingstoke Canal in Surrey after a spate of altercations

I've lived in hampshire all my life but jave strangely never seen it. when the weather warms up next year I will take the kids for a walk/cycle along it.
i believe issues like this are what makes shared paths absolutely useless and why most cyclist just carry on using the roads, much to the disgust of motorists.

When I briefly lived in Loughborough in 2003 on a mooring one of the neighbours asked me what sort of music I like. He prompted me by suggesting I might like the carpenters.
When I told him I like Slayer he was a bit surprised.
I like anything quality. From Slayer to Vivaldi and Purcell. Good music is good music.

Oh - that Mr Postman in Dismal-Land got me thinking about this. I used to watch this. It's a bit like The Monkees (also good!):
