When we last lived ashore it was in rural Lincolnshire and nearly every dwelling outside of the towns and villages' had cess pits. The yellow pages were full of ads for poo services, pages and pages. Sometimes it would be a farmer, they would pump you out and off they went. It was a common sight to see fields covered in pretty pastel coloured tissue as it was dumped straight onto the fields. Don't know if that is the case today, I suspect not but veggies from Lincs were among the best around. Phil

I expect modern H&S laws have probably made that sort of crap illegal.

Our farmer empties our cesspit still, he has a few poo dams dug in his fields where it all ferments. Looks like they are rotated as whenever he slurries the fields there is no smell. his tats and carrots are delicious too!!
