My ASDA delivery [due twelve hours ago] is still "out for delivery" by driver null, not sure if I have met him before! ASDA don't seem too worried so I just hope he made it back home. We do have a flurry of snow, but it's not too bad, I've not run out of food completely, but not sure if pasta and sauce is really ideal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'd normally make a curry, but unfortunately I left the remains of the chicken on the stovetop too long last night, and it went "chargrilled"

My ASDA delivery ...... snip ...... dinner. I try always to have some made up packet meals tucked away in a cupboard. Especially when I am out and about on my little cruiser "Shapfell" I have found and really recommend most of the range called "Look what we found" their beef chilli and their beef bolognaise I particularly favour. It does not need refrigeration and has a very long life, boil in the bag or microwave. Good quality and not full of chemicals buy it at Morrisons, Asda etc. Meant to be kept for emergencies, they have a habit of getting eaten when I'm feeling lazy. Not terribly impressed by the chicken casserole, found it a bit bland but the others I've tried were good.

A can of beef or vegetable curry + basmati rice + beer makes for a nice little luxury meal.

-3 in the cratch and having closed the curtains last night, when we opened them this morning the condensation has frozen on the base of the frame. That's the first time this winter. The sun's up now and it's a beautiful day. May be a visit to the laundrette ... living the dream Stay warm and no slipping down please. Rog

The canal was frozen all day yesterday, and then a boat came through at about 4pm. We could see quite clearly the ice was about a quarter inch thick.
But of course ice sheets are pushed on top of each other, and then overnight the canal has fully frozen over again. I would guess it's a good thickness now. May have to have a play and see just how thick.

Rog Brought back memories of when we were moored in the basin opposite the carpark and Tesco would ring me 10 mins before he rocked up with our food order, this was to give me time to smash through with my dinghy, most times this was OK, sometimes it took a bit longer but the real PITA was when it froze behind me. It is fun but I really don’t think it’s fair on other boat owners who have boats which are vulnerable to the stresses caused by it. Not to mention the blacking! It’a one of the reasons I don’t think CRT should pressure people to move in these conditions.

Icy conditions, whether the canal is frozen or not, is a good reason for not moving.
It only takes one accident.
