Thunderboat is what it is, and long may it continue.
Everyone can speak freely ... that is the point isn't it.
Sometimes, however, we all can feel over powered by some views expressed here with which we disagree.
I think it's a good idea to walk away for a few days and regather ones thoughts and perspective.
There's absolutely no point continously 'tilting at windmills'

So can whoever it is, we know who you are as do you, shut the fuck up so gazza doesn't feel uncomfortable. I don't like it either, I'm sure there are others. Or perhaps you would care to justify your nastiness. Better though, when you are in a hole, stop digging. Gazza is a good bloke and I’m still hoping to meet up with him later this year. Huh !!! don't hold your breath, He is an expert at avoiding people. He even sent the Mouse to meet me as "he couldn't make it" Mind You the Mouse is great company and I had a good evening You know I even drove to the pub where he was having is Sunday dinner ..... and they left early just to avoid me !!!

I’m sorry to hear that John. All I can do is speak for myself here. Deep down I’m quite a shy and sensitive person (fluffy bunny if you like), that’s probably why I’m more comfortable airing my views on line rather than becoming a politician or religious nutter What I’m trying to say is that our internet personas can drift from our real persona at times. I know Gazza has given me some helpful advice on the Nene/Ouze amoungst other stuff.

I have spoken to him a couple of times and yes a nice chap but it has almost become a standing joke that he is avoiding me

Although I'm not sure if I'm the complete moron or his friend :/ I'd say it was probably ricco, naughtyfox and myself who agitated gazza. It seemed to be related to discussions around some concerns people have about too many furriners. It is a bit counter reproductive for a moderate person to withdraw because it takes out the balance. I'm not really racist as such I just hate virtually all people regardless of colour. I prefer my kids to be in the all Bengali school than the one full of fat awful white chavs (yes we do have that choice). It was @gazza who originally encouraged me to get on this forum. In general I like it although as @bassplayer said it can make people appear to be something they are not in real life.

In general I like it although as @bassplayer said it can make people appear to be something they are not in real life. In my case it was my view that families with children should largely fend for themselves, like everyone else, rather than receiving increasing levels of state benefits, regardless of their wealth. And my description of white flight. People might not like the concept of white flight but it's a reality in my neck of the woods, the towns of Lancashire. If an area is now predominantly Indian, Bangladeshi or whatever, and wasn't previously, that is because of white flight. We could call it something else to appease the over sensitive, but the mechanics remain unchanged.

I believe you miss the point again.
It's introducing views on race/integration/sexual orientation into threads, WHATEVER the original subject, that's temporarily (I hope) tipped him over the edge.

What ricco says is true. I would call it displacement.
As for the welfare state that's a completely bent system which simply redistributes wealth from working tax payers to wealthy non workers.
Its just wealth redistribution and security for the rich. Nothing to do with helping people.
Housing benefit. Who gets the money? Oh yes its those people who have several houses. Odd that isn't it the money which is supposedly meant for the "poor" simply goes from taxpayers pockets into landlord's pockets.
Its totally corrupt. A bullshit system designed to protect the wealthy from people who might otherwise want to have a go at them. After all if you have nothing whose door are you going to force? The one with the gold behind it.
Just give them money let them multiply and divide society while quietly trousering the cash.
Just good old fashioned wealth distribution and societal division.

Rog The former was in the pit, only the latter in an unrelated thread, which had already deviated, before I contributed. If you want my opinion Gaza won't listen to opinions that differ from his own, and gets angry when people offer them. Common parlance for such a person is a bigot.

Thanks, but no. It is unavoidable to 'listen' to your opinion on these issues, as you expound them on as many threads as possible, relevant or not. A person who disagrees with your opinion is not a bigot. Especially if your opinion is in itself disagreeable Rog

A person who disagrees with your opinion is not a bigot. Especially if your opinion is in itself disagreeable Rog Of course someone who disagrees with my opinion isn't a bigot. A bigot isn't someone with any particular view, it's someone who won't entertain views different from theirs. Personally, if someone has an opinion that differs from mine I'll discuss it and put my own view forward. I might have strong views, they might differ from those of many, but that doesn't make me a bigot. I thought we'd moved on from the time when people who had different views of how society should be run, away from 'modern progressive social liberalism' were branded as bigots. Gordon Brown brought this to a head of course, displaying his own bigotry by deriding someone who was concerned about the future prospects of their grandchildren. It seems the message hasn't quite sunk home yet.
