Perhaps an unmoderated forum is not for you? Unmoderated for Politics and Religion doesn't mean it's appropriate to run round and screaming obscenities and waving our soiled underpants in everyone's face. Did I really say that? One of my better remarks

Betty gave me a like - for that made in Aug 2016. Pontificating Experts thread.
Anyway, beware of teasers on the WEB, Nick!

Yes it’s pretty waffly. But I have now spoken so all is well. Yeah but maybe you just added to the expert waffle, a case of 'Hello Mr Pot, meet Mr Kettle' perhaps? Looks like a textbook case of 'expert hell' over there, a cookie cutter solution would meet the OPs needs quite well, but some of the assembled 'experts' are going off on tangents, why, I wonder? And in the process some good and useful info may be being missed out...

Do people really take advice from internet forums or social media any longer.
They have excellent comedic value for the banter but as a source of information about subjects that might kill me if they are wrong?..
Really? Get a good text book or visit a reputable technical web site.

Get a good text book or visit a reputable technical web site. No I think something like CWDF does give good and useful advice, as does this site. Of course there is often more than one opinion given with only one being correct, but usually the correct idea “bubbles to the top” with other random bad opinions lacking backup from other posters. Lots of things might kill you. Beds, especially (according to the statistics). In fact one fault with a lot of amateur posters on technical matters is that they become obsessed with death, or rather eliminating all possibility of it. Engineering is generally a compromise /balanced view that accepts that death is a possibility and only tries to make the likelihood as low as reasonably practicable, not zero. If you become obsessed with making the probability zero, you become dysfunctional and paralysed - or more likely decide to absolve yourself of responsibility by giving it to a “professional” - who doesn’t give a shit and just wants your money!

I like to read as many solutions to what ever it is I have problems with..this includes the forum, internet and what ever books I have..however living where i do I rely on on line advice. Then with all the facts I work out best way for me..I have to see why I'm doing what I'm doing..that said stuff like electrics I'd get in an 'expert'....and then he has to explain why he's doing what he's doing(but i read up first so i know what he's saying) ...with having had so much go wrong here and having been recipient of some cowboy capers and apprentices who worked unsupervised I think this is best for me.

I have found good advice on Canalworld (well, let's be fair) and I have found good advice here on Thunderboat. I have had good advice from the Cyclists Touring Club net site. I get a good idea about items such as Lumix cameras from comments on the Internet, and Tripadvisor comments give me an idea as to whether a restaurant or B&B is worth going to/staying at. Of course you need to use some judgement of your own, and even if you were to wade through all 65 comments on one restaurant you could get it wrong/right.

Books go out of date in the face of changing technology and regulations. Books show you one way to skin the cat when there may be several. Books are not tailored to a specific question. But never mind, if you have to pay for something that must mean it’s better! A bit like employing a professional!

However book authors generally don't cloud their advice by arguing with other supposed 'experts' over who's advice is correct leaving the reader utterly confused about what the answer to their query actually is. Trying to 'Out expert' each other brings the quality of the advice into question IMHO. You also have to be on a forum a long time to gain an understanding of who might know what they are talking about and who one can rely on to give advice. If you are new and need an urgent answer this doesn't work well as you can end up making things worse because some random clown gave you bad advice.
