Found it. Effe Weg. "I found a milepost as we cruised. This one says that we are 19 miles from Fall Ing Lock. There have been several listing the distance from Fall Ing as we came along." Just who is the idiot who put up that Fall Ings sign - and more to the point, why hasn't CRT corrected it? You've changed your tune since I put you right about a year ago. You were saying it should have an "s" on the end.

Just a question Jim, the "effe weg" that you wrote about, is that a boat ? If it is, it may belong to Dutch folks, or Brits that have ties with the Dutch. "effe weg" means "gone away for a moment", which is a rather nice name for a boat (if it is a boat). Peter. It's a tiny Dutch style barge, I posted pics of it last year, someone said it had been a water bowser boat in a port. I think that's a lovely name, now I know what it means. Thanks for that Jim, one warning however, don't always believe what someone said, as the story about a boat like that having been a wate rbowser boat in a port, is porkies. This unless a proof of this is supplied, which will surely very hard, if not impossible to find. The name of this kind of boat is : "BOLPRAAM" The "BOLPRAAM" belongs to the type of TJALK ships. This species has a number of visible similarities with tjalks. The simplest type is an open pram and the last of the kind, the boltjalk, is already a real little tjalk. The bol ships were the most common canal ships in the province of Groningen and were mainly used in the Veenkoloniën for the transport of potatoes to the factories. It is an open vessel with a narrow gangway and equipped with a small deck. The vessel was boomed and / or pulled with a line. Peter.

Just put my genny on ready for the rugby. No one can moor behind me (bridge hole ) and there are no houses within a mile. If anyone chooses to moor in ear shot , they have no cause for complaint, and I can do nothing about their choices. I can do no more. Hoping the Irish roar back to a mighty victory in Cardiff. Rog

That's a silent occupation for which you don't have to run a genny, hope that it's not going to wear you out, can't Shania do this for you ? Peter.

We were in Wakefield last Summer 2018, and Summer 2017. It is interesting to note that most Thunderboaters have gone North this Summer whilst we have gone South to mingle with the unlicenced hippies and thieving-murdering travellers of the K&A. Hey. 😉

Just came up Stanley Ferry at 4mph, its deep and wide, my boat draws .5 mtr. So only ripples were reaching the bank, boats were hardly mooring, still got a shout, "should be at tickover". Nonsense. Then went by 10 fishists on the river, 3/4 way across the river to give them room, one still had a whinge. What is it with Yorkshiremen? If in doubt, Flat out. RIP Colin McRae. As good a mantra to live your life by as any. 👍🍻 We will be in Scotland on the 15th. Someone in another team has suggested we stop for a two minute silence on the 12th anniversary of his death. Seems we are on a rally in his home country.
