I think he was 180 degrees out on that one. Religions have a basis in theatre, with magic and illusion thrown in. Some bright spark thought up a theatrical celebration, passed the collecting plate round and became rich, with power and influence over the less bright. "mine is the one true faith, the way to the afterlife and eternal glory is through me. ". That's not to deny there might not be an afterlife though. Just that there aren't any gatekeepers. Other than self appointed ones. It is of course difficult to know just exactly what went on in that cave. But I am informed it is a popular academic opinion. youtube.com/watch?v=EoihKUbmM38 Hadn't seen that ....... brilliant

What you Telemachus or I like to do in the privacy of our own homes should be of no concern to anyone other than our partners. If I publicly declare my preferences, and subsequently discover that as a consequence I am demonised, ridiculed or humiliated, I have no one to blame but myself. If I believe in a god with angels and harps, is anyone going to be converted based on my revelation ? I suspect not ... but many will attempt to point out the error in my belief. That's all I meant, but we're all free to reveal as much or as little as we desire. Rog

Mr Sensitive........ I think its clear Rog mean 'unless you want it to'. I think it’s clear Rog meant to say what he said, which is not what your “interpretation” is since that would make no sense. 'They should concern no one else unless you want it to' Makes perfect sense. You are too quick sometimes to accuse people of casual homophobia.

I was on the floor when I saw it. I wish those two would go back on the telly. Here's my other favourite.

But that is not what Rog said. You have invented the second part of the sentence.

Popular opinions based on myth and beliefs can lead to serious bother, especially when promulgated by a "mine is the true way" nutter. Just look at Brexit.

Rog If you reveal that you are heterosexual you won’t be demonised, ridiculed or humiliated because that is seen as normal. But you are saying that if I reveal I am gay, it is my own fault if I am demonised, ridiculed or humiliated. I hadn’t until this point realised that you were homophobic, but I do now. It explains a few things. When I first came out in the 1980s quite a few of my friends said that was fine, ”but we don’t want to hear you talk about it”. Well I suppose that was marginally better than being completely ostracised, but in the 2010s I thought things had moved on. Clearly not. The only saving grace is that your self styled forum position of “king of faultless virtue and righteousness” is now badly tarnished.

You are too quick sometimes to accuse people of casual homophobia. That's poofs for you. True. But then as has been demonstrated, casual homophobia is a fairly common exerience.

You would have liked him.
