As Steve Haywood used his boat as a weapon and deliberately crashed into another boat to inflict damage, will he be going to prison to be raped? You could always prosecute him yourself, if you feel that strongly about it, as could anybody else sufficiently incensed. The time limit for prosecution is 6 months from the time of any offence of criminal damage under s.1(1) of the Criminal Damage Act 1971, whether intentional, or simply being reckless as to the consequence of the action, and this incident was only back in July. The physical damage (if any) would be slight enough to classify the alleged offence as a summary one. Moreover if, as is arguable, it involved being " reckless as to whether the life of another would be thereby endangered", the alleged offence would be indictable, with no such time limit. I posted this on CWDF and someone was dubious about it unless there was injury or loss of life, but that is nonsense. If you are confident that an offence occurred, and becomes apparent that the police decline involvement, you are entitled to take on the case yourself in order to send home a powerful message in the interests of public safety.

What's creepy is the name of his boat: Justice. Is he a member of the judiciary? Justice for whom? For whom doth the bell toll? I forgot you were a Metalhead ππππππ₯π₯πΈπΈπΈ

If it really is out of character...but then again, as Foxy says, what kind of bloke names his boat Justice? A pompous arse would be my guess. Perhaps he's out in pursuit of his own kind of "Justice" β¦.?! met x

Does anyone else think enough is enough? He hasnβt actually murdered anyone. I know what he did was wrong but maybe the fallout is a little OTT? Your probaly right, and it will settle, if he was a normal man on the street. I suspect it would have already. But with him being a journalist who promotes things like chucking bullys of the waterways means stuff like this will always get more attention.

I get the name now, he's ex producer of BBC Rough Justice and a few other progs with the word Justice in the title.
Someone on the other channel suggested he was planning to get between the GRP and the bank, flipping it out of the way back onto the river, then the GRP moved up a bit to prevent that. Sounds like a good theory to me.

As Steve Haywood used his boat as a weapon and deliberately crashed into another boat to inflict damage, will he be going to prison to be raped? ...and this incident was only back in June. Any idea why this video has just popped up recently? Any knowledge of the fibreglass cruiser company making a claim for damage? I've not heard of Mr Haywood before, but then I don't buy canal magazines. It all seems a bit silly. But I did like lollygagger's alarm-bell, that a change in behaviour could be a clue to an underlying cause. Social media, eh? One step wrong and you're on YouTube and the ridicule of the whole world and your family and employer.

It has only cropped up now because of one of our steely-eyed members with prior experience of the gentleman involved. Or was facebook in on it first? Certainly the hire boat company would be the immediate party concerned unless the damage was too little for them to worry their insurers over. They might have taken a dimmer view if their hirer had run into anyone else. I have 4 or 5 of Mr Haywood's books, and I enjoyed them. Not that that has any relevance. From what others have said on here, facebook and CWDF, any change in behaviour had to have started quite some years ago.

Any knowledge of the fibreglass cruiser company making a claim for damage? Not sure but I think it was probably a "Le Boat" hire cruiser from Benson. I shared a lock with a Le Boat boat today actually. They have got some seriously sorted fixed horizontal fendering around their boats so I don't think they would be remotely concerned about this incident in terms of a damage claim. Having been around the Thames for quite a long time (33 years) I have noticed that hire boats have been fitted with more and more durable fendering. It makes for ugly boats. I would hazard a guess that the reasoning behind it could be related to insurance issues.
