Nah they are boring, the sort of thing someone living on a housing estate built in the 70's who chooses hideously unsuitable Victorian gates to protect their drive, just because some other muppet up the road got them fitted 2 weeks ago, would go for. I'm more or less sold on the 'suspension bridge' table. I'll just leave 3 spokes intact on each side of the 'bridge' in order that I can actually use the shelf to put stuff on. Just need to think of a way of attaching the load bearing spokes to the otherwise floating shelf. Suppose I could have oversize spokes, drill through the shelf and secure with nipples under the shelf but there's probably a better way of doing it, that I haven't thought of yet.

Other styles are available. I love the way you despise people. So refreshing. I hope we get a picture of the finished table.

Beauty does indeed lie in the eye of the beholder. Just ask your wife.

I'm not so good with pictures but one thing is for sure every bridge, like boats, wild animals and even storms these days, must have a name. I think I'll go for the fifth bridge. Might even get a small plaque made up in its (her/his?) honour. It was built after the Forth, so it makes good sense.

Maybe you could deliberately miss-spell it and called it the Fith bridge.
A play on words Forth/Fourth etc

Recess a 1983 pound coin into the wood and glue it in place. That'll really throw people "wow this table is 37 years old".

The wife said if you’re bored stuck at home why not make a bird table and now she’s not talking to me because I’ve put her in 7th place.
