Seems a popular thread title today. We'll all die of ennui, to many boring cnp posts from naughtyfox.

On another forum, not so different from this one, it's been like here with a few people knowing someone who's relative got it etc, but suddenly everyone is getting it, particularly in Brighton for some reason. One guy has 6 separate relatives, none of whom has met for months, that were all +ve tested in the past few days. There are similar reports from the West country.

Judging by what I saw as I turned back there will be a lot more cases in a week or so... Roads heaving down here worse than height of summer Popular beaches busy.. Stupid behaviour particularly with the news that Cardiff hosp has a real staff shortage and putting out pleas for staff on social media sites...

Is it just me ?
When the north east, north west, and then Yorks and Humberside were put into tier 3, the news (particularly BBC) seemed uninterested.
Now London and the south are experiencing rising numbers, it's suddenly a huge story, with panic headlines about the NHS struggling and ambulance service being over worked.

In case you hadn't noticed, the southeast is in tier 4

Well seeing this has gone on for over 9 months now, I'm sure the stress is getting to most people. Stress is scientifically proven to lower immunity. It's probably being perpetrated more by all of the negative news..and posts. It's quite possible that most people who tested positive and later died, were literaly scared to death. We need to learn to live with this virus as we do with all of the other viruses and risks in life, otherwise what sort of life will all 67 million of us have in the future? Over 1500 people die every day under 'normal' circumstances, mainly people over 70 years old who have had a fair innings. Are we now going to lock ourselves indoors everytime a new virus is discovered or mutates? I reckon by this Spring, things will come to a head one way or another.

My older sister who lives in Frome has had it and tested positive as has her daughter and ex husband. They all survived it ok but her father in law (a ridiculously terrible old demon) was in hospital with it but then he is about 90 or something and not healthy. He lives in North London not west country.

I think you may be exaggerating the stress aspect. The vast majority of people find life acceptably stress free and if there were no pressures in life nobody would do anything. Some stress is an essential part of life.

when I was working I achieved far more when unlikely deadlines had to be met, resources were inadequate and circumstances were contrary. I never labelled it stress, it was just invigorating.
................... oh! I forgot - having mental 'elf issues is apparently fashionable these days. I really need to keep up.

Rog There are a lot of people darn sarf, packed in, earning and spending and paying tax in larger £quantities. It's a money orientated country. Sure life goes on oop North but it's not necessary to the economy in any way I've noticed, probably more of a drain overall.

Well done for trotting out the usual "life's been ok for me so nobody has an excuse" line. It's tosh of course, I guess you haven't been helpless in circumstances that felt hopeless. You can't have been or you'd still be trapped there. Me neither but I'm not so narrow-minded as to deny the possibility for others and I've had to selfishly scramble to get out of the crab bucket.
