Was chatting to someone who is going through Leicester none stop as it's 'a bit dodgy'
Seemed a shame to me as we enjoyed Leicester ... but it got me musing whether there's anywhere we've been that we hated/had so much grief we'll not go again.
I can't think of anywhere ... we've been burgled and had stuff stolen several times, in various locations , but we've been back to all the places and happily been trouble free.
What about you ... anywhere you'll avoid ?

Huddersfield Broad Canal!
It tries to sink long boats.

Most towns where scum youth wander up and down with their boom boxes and often alocohlic folk feigning interest in you/ your boat whilst weighing up what they can nick.
So that's most towns really.

You had so much grief/hassle/crime or whatever on all canals that you won't go back on ANY ?

Yes. Everywhere there was trouble. Boats are always too close. Scrotes at every corner.
Actually I do have to go back to a canal now and then but not go boating on it.
And I have had about 7 bikes stolen all of them from boats on canal towpaths never on the Thames.
Of course now not having a bike I can cleverly steer clear of this problem!

Jamaica Lebanon Beirut Laos Senegal There are others but not so bad...... What's so bad about Laos? I loved it there. If you'd said Vietnam, I'd have understood. My most hated places are the large cities in the middle east. Most unfortunately, it's very difficult to fly to SE Asia without visiting one of these vile hubs. I suppose I should count my lucky stars that I don't need to set foot outside the airports. And to think, some people actually pay good money to go to these soulless places.

But disagree about SE Asian cities. Whilst I wouldnβt want to spend too long in one, Iβve always found Bangkok fascinating, and you can make of it what you wish, the high life on a skyscraper roof bar, the mad shopping and traffic, or the quiet backstreets and back-canals where ordinary people are going about their business, to the temples which can be little islands of peace. Didnβt like KL much though, Malaysia is generally miserable and boring (being Muslim). Vietnamese cities also fairly hard work, Iβll agree. But just crossing the road is a fascinating experience! Myanmar (Rangoon etc) was great until the military trashed it. Again.

As to canals, hated the Walsall but thatβs about it. We dislike Manchester but needs must, sometimes you have to go through it, preferably without stopping.
