Looks like he is 'gobshiting' from the long term moorings between High Line and bridge 7 (so about 2.5 miles along), if he got to the winding hole at bridge 9 then he only had 1.5 miles to go to reach the end of the arm. Yes the arm is a bit weedy but judicious thrusts of reverse will normally clear the prop.
I'd be more worried about some of the locals if he was looking for somewhere to moor...

Not watching the video and not a reference to the person on the video but the Slough arm is a dead end waste of time crawling with pikeys and full of rubbish.

Pikeys. Ah yes and the weed. There is plenty of that down towards Hanwell as well. I went through it a couple of years ago when I was still unfortunate enough to be using the canal and the weed had stopped quite a few boats above top locks. A little chuck back drops it off and you carry on. Some boats better than others. Small egg whisk propellers are more of a nuisance than big ones.

The arm is the sort of place you only go once, unless you need to go again.

Exactly. I did go there once got about half a mile then returned to the reasonably not that awful main line.
Never been to the end as it seemed to be an incredibly pointless activity.
There was some talk about pushing it through to the Thames near Windsor. That would have been interesting but won't happen.
It's not at all far and would create a very useful broad route from GU onto the nicer part of the Thames.
thank God that didn't happen !

You can't go on the Slough arm anyway, he's unofficially closed it.

Did he lie the beard across it as a physical barrier?

Passed him a few weeks ago, used to live on a little cruiser then somehow managed to buy a full size narrowboat, vlogging must pay well.

You can't go on the Slough arm anyway, he's unofficially closed it. And without your permission too, shocking! You need to call a Goon meeting and take the appropriate action.

He's a nice bloke ... now UK resident ... he gave up his flat to save for the narrow boat along with his partner who's been working hard and also saving, and after five years, they managed to buy the boat (£17k) and have only had it six months. He may have an Aussie accent and a beard but he's a lovely chap. Rog
