We were in that very position with our first boat, 17.5 ft grp cruiser. Only sitting/kneeling in the cabin. Moved on to a 22ft Dawncraft, they have full standing room, cheap enough especially a doer upper. I used to hanker after a 32ft Highbridge till I came across the current NB. There are a variety of styles and lengths, 25ft, 27 including a 27 with centre cockpit, 32ft and I've heard of a few 42s. One issue for swmbo was the gunnel height when the bankside was low to the water, I sometimes had to hoick her up and on.

It must be nice having a woman about who will let you hoick her up and onto the boat.
Maybe it's a northern thing.
Mind you with my nackered back I can't even lift my own small children so would not be able to oblige even if asked !
I do have cranes on the boat though. One on each side.

If you do travel up north it's not just the wolves you'll need to look out for, the slim and lissome ladies of the parish have knives, sharp knives. Last time I was dahn sahf I could hardly think for the noise of chafing legginged thighs as they waddled around.

I have a lot of respect for Springers I have seen more than one springer I like the look of John, pity they have a bad reputation, probably a lot of it undeserved, I mean every boat's different isn't it.
