That photo is from the 1950's and craft on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal were always referred too as Boats not Barges.

It's a pity that towpaths aren't still like that. Those setts would not only wobble all the lycra, but shake the fillings out of cyclists' teeth.

So what? No solicitor would be remotely interested in taking on a libel action on your behalf, the very first thing they would do during your free 30 minute consultation is to explain to you the defence of "fair comment". In fact, this was even explained to you by the last solicitor you consulted about it, two years ago. So you won't be thieving anything from me mate, and as your reputation as a thief, liar and conman is pretty much ubiquitous now I doubt you'll ever get a chance to rip off another boater ever again. You're well behind the times, . . the defence of 'fair comment' under the Defamation Act of 1952 was abolished in 2013, . . and, I'm happy to say, with every additional libel you publish you're digging yourself into a deeper and ever more expensive hole. Section 3 - Defamation Act 2013. Subsection(8) : The common law defence of fair comment is abolished and, accordingly, section 6 of the Defamation Act 1952 (fair comment) is repealed. . . . . . . oh dear !! Now go and read up on the 'Honest Opinion' defence that replaced it. Ok, my honest opinion based on substantial evidence is that you are a thief, liar and conman. Is that better?

It's considerably better, . . but not for you ! With that statement now published on the internet you are committed to producing the "substantial evidence" that you say is the basis for what you claim to be your "honest opinion" of me. In the absence of any such "substantial evidence" you have no viable defence to a civil action for internet defamation. It is therefore very much in your own interests to publish the details of whatever evidence you imagine you have, in full and without delay.

This boat was ‘Burscough II’ btw. Unfortunately I couldn't make out the other names!

The loaded coal boat is Richard Williams of Liverpool M/b Jeanette whose Captain was Harry Gibbons of Burscough. The empty boat in the far distance looks like Ainscough's M/b Ambush, clue being the distinctive lettering on the bow. She was crewed by the Forshaw brothers of Burscough.

Are the ducks biodegradeable and/or recycleable?
If not then this is just more ecosystem and/or planet destroying nonsense.
The next thing is that these people will be going home and burning something just to keep warm.
It's terrible and needs banning post haste.

I agree with Andrew, all those little kiddiwinks are being taught to throw non biodegradable plastics into the waterways where they breakdown into micro particles and alter the biology of fishermen to prevent them breeding I mean ...... hang on a minute though ...... on the other hand

I can't help feeling that a duck run would work better on a river than a canal.

I can't help feeling that a duck run would work better on a river than a canal. It depends how close you are to a lock
