Looks like a most inpractical boat for solo navigation, controls are too far away from the cleats, which wouldn't be all that much of a problem in the narrow locks, but at 8' beam that's a no-go for this thing.
It would be better as a cheap floating house permanently moored in a marina.
Peter.

I think that is the idea of the boat yes. Bit of an odd beam to choose as it neither gives you space or the ability to keep the boat on narrow ditches. Strange one but still quite interesting that someone actually made it

Well this one has gone to auction someone might get a cheap boat here ! It's quite big but I remember kris and bargemast commenting on it. I think JohnV might have commented on it as well. Photo is central London but boat has since been moved down to the Mudway (as you do) so it's obviously got to be shifted. Or more likely scrapped. Dutch built Thames work barge. Not a Dutch barge which ended up in England but a Dutch built vessel which came to England as a working boat shortly after completion. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dutch-Flat-Bottomed-Barge-Houseboat-renovation-Moored-Medway-ME4-/113967704408Don't know if the little vlet tug is still on top of it but it does help show the size of the barge. I think that tug is about 25-30ft probably !

Waterway Dolly. Looks like it's going to get sold this time. Always liked this boat but hull does look pretty tired. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/45ft-exclusive-design-narrow-boat-completely-refitted-/352863814607Also the refitted bit could be quite upsetting if it was not done sensitively in keeping with the boat itself. You wouldn't want new gear in there really. Well I wouldn't... Been on this thread before I think it was a Pimblotts one of the first all welded steel built for purpose pleasure narrow boats. It appears to have a good value CRT offside residential mooring in Uxbridge with it. I didn't think they were transferable but it seems to imply it although it's not specifically written down. Intriguing.

I always thought those were leisure moorings there. Don't think they have electric on them. Maybe they are residential (sign says Long Term moorings) but unless the boat has a houseboat certificate from before the changes (possible) it seems improbable that the mooring would be transferable.
If it were and it is £3600 for residential 45ft it's quite interesting. there are wide beans on that site.
Mooring paid until march "ready to sail away" seems to indicate that the mooring is not with the boat.
Those moorings don't change much so maybe there is some sort of grandfather rights thing with transfer. It does happen on some CRT managed sites.
