What are your views?
Police seem to arrest people with protest banners, because the straps holding them together could be used for 'locking on'.
Police seem to arrest people handing out rape alarms to drunk women, because the alarms 'might' be used to scare horses.
Too much or justified?
If not justified who is to blame?

Simply a case of 'it's our party and you can't protest if you want to'.

That's interesting, I missed that story. But it doesn't surprise me. Actually it fits in nicely with my admittedly negative view of the hegemony.
Be Pure! Be Vigilant! Behave!

If there are any royalist dibble about, the thing to shout and scrawl on your placards is "Not Mike King". Nowt wrong with that.

Amusing but...even those holding up a blank piece of paper received attention. The object of the police presence was to create total passivity...not even positive actions allowed. Only abject obeisance.

Given the "intelligence" that rape alarms were to be thrown at horses, it's very disingenuous to hand them out on this occasion, and if placards are so big that they need substantial straps to contain them, then they would present a hazard in such big crowds. Now the new regulations, maybe plod can stop the stupid slow walks and carry solvent instead of assorted cups of tea or coffee thus enabling ordinary people to earn a living/visit sick relatives/go shopping.

There’s a time and place for demonstration of disapproval of royalty, and a coronation ceremony being watched by millions around the world, isn’t one of them. In the same way that one would be rather displeased if during one’s wedding, someone who had taken a dislike to you started a noisy protest in the church / registry office.
As to those who say “not my king”, they are wrong because while they live in the UK he is their king. If they don’t like it, they can go and live in a different country with an elected president. Russia might be a good bet.
