Who knew that crt own a property development company in partnership with a company called bloc developments. The company is called H2O urban. On one of its developments in salford Manchester they are refusing to restore the canal that runs through the site? Where’s the oversight of this activity by crt, let’s not forget it’s public money and assets we are talking about. Where is all of this mentioned in crts published accounts. The whole thing stinks of corruption and brown envelopes. We need some oversight of their activities, boaters should be demanding it. We still contribute 25%ish of their budget that they use to play these games.

Example
Norwood Yard, Norwood Green, Ealing, London
H2O secured planning permission for this former waterway depot for ten large family houses, nine are new build to a contemporary design, the tenth is the refurbishment of the lock keepers’ cottage.
....
H2O sold the site with the benefit of the planning permission to a local builder who completed the development.

They seem to be very sneaky about it. There is absolutely no oversight. The fact that they are refusing to restore the canal through one of their developments is absolutely disgusting.

It does look dodgy doesn't it. It smells definately. I wonder how many boaters know about this. I wonder who is ultimately profiting?

Presumably in the case of the Norwood yard, which I remember when it was a BW maintenance yard, the 'local builder' who bought it must have made a pretty penny.
10 houses. If thats freehold there is good money there.

Developer Sinton Andrews
Houses marketed individually freehold.
I wonder if land registry will say how much they paid for the site.

If thats freehold there is good money there. It seems like a everybody but the waterways network is profiting. The change from bw to crt must have been the biggest transfer of public assets to private ownership for free ever? I think if the public who have an interest understood what’s happened I think there would be uproar. Or maybe not there is a lot of apathy in this country.

Property description 1-10 Barge Drive, Southall (UB2 4FH)
This is how HM Land Registry have described the property in the register
How to update the property description Tenure type Freehold What's freehold? Last sold for £1,500,000 plus VAT of £300,000 on 21 March 2013
Thats the whole site before the houses sprung up. There are now ten houses there.
Estimated value £1m each. They are quite large.
The developer could have trousered a million pounds I reckon.

They’ve got a lot of development going on in Nottingham at the moment. Building lots of exspensive flats from meadow lane lock all the way to Holme lock apparently.

I wonder if there might be a contaminated land story here. If you buy a freehold property and it later proves to have contaminated land under it then as the owner you are responsible.
Castle Wharf Nottingham
"The project will be funded and owned by Citra a Lloyds bank company."

Castle Wharf Nottingham "The project will be funded and owned by Citra a Lloyds bank company." That’s on the canal, the ones I was talking about are on the river. I know at least some of the land used to be owned by bw.
