15 votes and a tie between Labour and 'couldn't care less' Sounds about right 😁 It has to be said that politicians of all parties have done all they can to break down any residual trust, and belief in the political process. As my old Dad used to say ... doesn't matter who you vote for, the government still wins. Rog I think Keir has just put the gun to labours head and pulled the trigger blowing out what few brains they had! He has been talking to the EU and it seems he will take a fair share of economic migrants about 200k a year along with the boat crossers probably 300k! I think the tories have just won the next GE |

Starmers plan is something like 'you allow us to return the people who come over on illegal boats and we will take in x amount of legal migrants'.
Whilst the numbers need clarifying, the policy seems more likely to work than the current one. Although we are likely to have to allow more people immigration status than currently.
Combined with allowing pre processed genuine refugees to work straight away rather than putting them up in hotels etc the policy might be acceptable.
Would need to see some reliable numbers and info before making a decision though. If the net numbers are in the region of 100k per year (as has been bandied about), the policy is worth consideration IMO.
Getting an understanding of the actual numbers/details is crucial though.
This isn't like opening up the country to all Poles and Romanians....
The immigration problem will never go away until economies and safety equalise throughout the world.
