I rarely have the chance not to move for more than 1 day at a time so increased capacity is probably wasted atm. I have to run the engine to move circa 5 hours a day 7 days a week for 6 months. It's true enough that all these exotic systems are really only needed if the boat isn't cruised more-or-less every day. We generally cruise most days when we are out of the marina. And so I felt that installing a complicated Li system wasn’t justified on grounds of need, it was more of a lockdown intellectual exercise. However now we have it, it is pretty fantastic on the occasional days we don’t cruise or don’t cruise much and allows us to make profligate use of the air fryer, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, washing machine etc without blinking. Any time the engine is running, the batteries will take the full output of whatever you throw at it, so no more hours spent charging at a paltry 50 A or whatever. This last trip when Jeff was glued to his Mac finishing off an MA module, and the weather wasn’t great, we only cruised for an hour or two some days, and none at all some other days. But still there was unfettered use of all the electrical gadgets.

And so tellymackus once again congratulates himself on how great he is. Has he told you yet how superior his self made alternator controller is yet?

And so tellymackus once again congratulates himself on how great he is. It doesn't sound all that great spending time not blinking with the other half glued to a computer. I can think of more pleasant activities involving enough blinking to look after the eyes and no glue.

And so tellymackus once again congratulates himself on how great he is. No I was congratulating lithium batteries on how great they were. But I realise that actually reading a post of more than one sentence is beyond you, so it is unsurprising that you resorted to your standard response tactic. And of course I was agreeing with Kris and supporting his viewpoint. But needless to say even when I do that, mr angry krissypoos will invent some reason to be angrily outraged and incensed. It is his only pleasure in life, so I suppose I should let him enjoy it.

LTO is the Way To Go.
One day everyone will know.
Yo!
Hellishly expensive on the Bimble webshite.

My LTO were £150/Kwh which is quite cheap. New Toshiba battery modules.
He ain't got none left now. Wish I had bought more as they are really god.

I don't do the rotating electrics thing but in the boating season the solar and the LTOs provide more than enough energy to spend all day in the floating electric beer drinking platform.

The output data should keep you busy for a while.

I know you like your LTOs but their main advantage - super-rapid charging - isn’t really a significant advantage for boating. And their main disadvantage, apart from cost, is that the cell voltage doesn’t easily fit in with 12v boat electrics 5 cells is not enough and 6 cells is too much. OK for 24v systems though. And the voltage profile is much less flat than LiFePO4.

The output data should keep you busy for a while. That would be a short piece of work because funnily enough it is only some people on Thunderboat that seem to find me unbearable. About 5 of them in fact. The other 8 billion people in the world don’t seem to have a problem with me. I therefore theorise that just possibly, it could be something to do with those 5 people who dominate this cesspit of god’s mistakes, rather than anything to do with me. On the other hand of course, just under 8 billion people could be wrong and the famous 5 could be the new messiahs. One always has to take a balanced position.

I suppose that sense of superiority that never leaves the person, is what you pay for in a private education.
