I can't stomach St Pancreas. Must be galling for you. Every time I go to St Pancreas, I'm gutted.

I'll remember thanks ... we used to use the lock side cafe at Rickmansworth, but it may have packed up. Rog I lived in Ricky for a short while on one of my Boats. The caff we used was near Common Moor lock. You moor above the lock on the piling then there is a road up hill (nice old hill) up to Croxley where there is a station. Turn left onto the main road (nice old road, not the small residential street). There was a caff. Proper greasy spoon (nice old spoon and a clue to the wetherspoon name). I used to get bacon egg and double chips there. They did special doubles just for me.. Nice old caff it was run by criminal looking albanian types (nice old albanians). I suppose with them all fucking off it might be a carpet shop now. Must check on street view! This was almost 20 yars ago (nice old yars).

I have serious misgivings about all catering establishments.
I find the hygiene rating system to be one of the better things about the internet age. Definitely don't eat at anywhere that doesn't display the badge.

We're all going to eat a bit of muck before we die ... hopefully the two aren't connected 😁 Rog My mom's favourite was ' a peck of dirt before you die' . I suppose this now translates into the 5 second rule. We get off light if you look at the appeals about African water. For 5 years, I had a cafe in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter just at the start of the transition from trade to public accessibility. This was a greasy spoon that served all the local workshops, where you would have had maybe 5 separate units in what was once a victorian terrace house. The way in which each relied on the others was quite interesting. You had casters whose work went to polishers then to enamellers or setters or engravers and it was all transferred by a collection of retired men on foot. The finished items then ended up with a wholesaler or bigger distributor such as H.Samuel. Gradually, individuals began to open up to the public and it has ended up as the flash shopping area it is today. Thankfully the skills have survived. one of our neighbours was a watchmaker and the selection of miniature tools such as lathes and drills he used was a joy to behold. it's good to have a thread to post on that is in membership ownership.

I have been attending silversmithing evening classes for 8 years now. I absolutely love visiting the Jewellery Quarter and got to visit the museum which sadly has not reopened since lockdown. That was a wonderful snapshot of a working factory. I visit the area when I can to get supplies and browse the second hand jewellery shops etc.

We did the museum visit and thoroughly enjoyed it ... very knowledgeable guides made it an enthralling and unique experience.
Have to say the Coffin Works Museum was worth a visit too, but the Jewellery was the best 👍🏻

Ought to say the guy who took us around the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, had worked there for many years ... he knew the processes and the tools and all the characters connected.
It was a magical visit and the old factory looks like works finished for the day, and everyone's left to return tomorrow.
Amazing place.

High of 9 degrees tomorrow, 40 plus mph winds, rain for most of the day ... oh dear.
Fire's set ready to light in the morning as I think we'll need it, and perhaps for the next couple of days.
Certainly cooler this evening than last night.

What aload of boring crap. People can look out of the window and see what the weather is doing. But no they use the internet to talk about it. Oh and what they had for their dinner. You really are a bunch of sad old cunts. 😂
