I thought it may be good to have a thread where we (who enjoy such trivial nonsense) can talk mindless drivel about whatever we choose.
I'm quite enjoying being in the house with all the lazy un-earned comforts of water (even hot) and electricity.
We've seen some family and both managed to buy new boots AND give them a trial run on a walk with some family members ... jolly good so far.
Jane's finally sorted her outfit for the wedding on Wednesday ... only taken two months 😁
Looking forward to being back on board on Friday or Saturday (as yet undecided) and heading 'darn sarf' slowly.

So - you couldn't hack the mud, huh?

It is bad isn't it 😊
We've been telling family ... Stratford and Birmingham were great fun, but the minute you venture out of 'town' the mud is overbearing.
You full time boaters have my utter respect.
We MUST surely have a very long dry spell before long ... surely ... please 🙏

A very pleasant walk around Worsborough Dam and reservoir ... tested the new boots out throughly as it's exceptionally muddy.
Lots of birds but no cuckoo sadly.
Dry but very windy and mostly sunny. Surprisingly warm at about 19 degrees too.

Just out of interest, we're heading to London and have begun to discuss our 'things to do' list for the week there.
Only thing I definitely would like to do is visit the Tower of London ... never yet done it because it's so expensive, but maybe this time.
What would you recommend ?

The London Bridge experience is very good, we all enjoyed the tour of Tower Bridge. Going up top and then seeing the machinery. Which I later used as part of my hydraulic lesson for my instructors course.
The transport museum is decent in my opinion too.

Thanks ... we'll look at those options as I've never previously heard of either, which is good 👍🏻

Some triv...
The upper gantry on Tower Bridge was originally a public walkway for pedestrians to cross the river. But it quickly became a well-known spot for ladies of the night to meet prospective clients. The Victorians, who were obsessed with sex but were also heavily in denial about it, proffessed outrage and it was thus closed to public access. A while ago there was some talk of re-opening it but I don't know what came of it.

Docklands Museum. Its brilliant. Short walk from Limehouse or take transport and get off at West India Quay DLR.
Very nice Wetherspoons immediately next door.
The museum is free. You need a bit of time for this one as it is very engaging.
