Is the air-horn necessary? Not but the air horn does not really impinge on internal space and uses minimal electrickery. Domestic appliances such as fridges and washing machines have been invented to make life more complicated. Not on a 60footer Phil

Read the story and she was scared of dying through dehydration so vomited to put liquid into her mouth, liquid that came from her body!! She was having to wait till her partner came home from work, and you know how quickly you can dehydrate. To make matters worse she sat on the bed to rest her legs, problem was this added her weight to the weight of the bed. Darwin is calling Phil

What has happened to the general public. I read of an old lady who was swept from her feet by a hoard heading for anti bac hand wash. I also see that Supermarkets have been cleaned out of anti bac goods also toilet rolls, all gone presumably to the same place that the Brexit hoarders use for all their stuff. Chris was online as usual to book our weekly shop and found Tesco is out of many tinned foods as well as the anti bac and toilet rolls, also bread mixes were all out of stock, oh and the dogs don't get away unscathed because dog food is thin on the ground. Rather reminds me of of the so called "salt shortage" people filling trollies with the stuff when the reality is it is mined in this country Phil

So if I find a DC > DC / battery to battery charger that will charge at say 14 volts would this then resolve the problems of charging from the alternator as I would be charging from the starter battery to the LIFEP04s? Yes but they are quite expensive. There isn’t much point in having lithium batteries and only charging them at 30A. Well unless your charger is plugged into the mains, in which case ... there isn’t much point in having lithium batteries! B to B are or at least were available in a variety of outputs mine was 50amp Phil

I think part of the problem is partially due to people's perception where a quick glance tells them "it's just a push bike" and I'll have loads of time to cross in front of them despite the lights being against me. I could maintain 25mph for 10 miles in a time trial also 20mph in a 24 hour race. I had a milk round that covered a lot of miles and the dairy got me a "Town & Country" milk float with an above average 42 cell battery. This gave it a speed of 30mph and it often caught out drivers who saw a milk float and "saw" a slow vehicle.... wrong! Their perception threw them out. I would have used the figures of 30% and 70% in favour of the cyclist but would also say that insurance should be compulsory, it was when I was racing and wasn't expensive Phil

UJs do need lubricating, years ago when I was "on the road as a service engineer" I picked up my freshly serviced Chevette from the garage. I discovered a vibration coming from the gear stick. I rang the garage and booked it in for next day. Continued my day keeping the speed down and keeping an eye on it. Almost got home needing to turn off at junction 3 and had just passed junction 4 when there was a horrendous bang, quickly I snatched the gear stick to find neutral and coast to the hard shoulder but...... it came off in my hand!!!! The car filled with smoke and with great difficulty made the hard shoulder. Popped the bonnet to find the prop shaft had torn the gearbox off the car!!! The cause was a seized up UJ I was lucky the propshaft didn't drop and dig into the road or I would have been turning somersaults down the M4 Moral is.....use lube Phil

Works cats are remarkably adaptive. One place I worked at one which chose to live in the heat treatment plant and was black from all the carbon used for case hardening steel and was apparently immune to cyanide as this was around in copious amounts, again used for case hardening. It lived to a ripe old age and like John's cat would eat owt Phil

My favourite bitch came from Battersea dogs home in 1990 and stayed with me until 2005 when she died on my lap in my boat and pissed on my trousers (due to the dying thing). Not sure why they have included the cats, as far as I know it is Battersea DOGS home. Not a fan of cats at all myself. If I never have a cat in the same confined space as myself it will be too soon. That happened to me too, I didn't get upset because trousers are soon washed but the loss of little Stella left me bereft Phil
