Meanwhile Flappy had been listening to his pocket radio, his face was etched with concentration as he tried to take in all the weather news that was coming in. Flappy called out "John!! JOHN!! in ever strident tones, John mooched over and asked Flappy what was up Look at this storm coming in Ciara by name and guaranteed to bring massive disruption and you know what? WE ARE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE John just shrugged and said "so what?" All we have to do is get Peter to press the big red button and voila we will simply skip ahead and arrive in the aftermath...... simples!

Chlorinated hormone and antibiotic riddled chicken, anyone? Vegetables and lettuce sold in Finland already washed with chlorine, thanks. Who knows what conditions are like in Lithuanian and Bulgarian abbattoirs? Not very nice, I expect. I've posted this before, anybody who eats out gets chlorine washed salads plus any food thought worthy of attention Chlorine washing is "Milton" and boaters drink plenty of the stuff, it was used as a scare tactic Phil

Oh, no, I didn't think you did at all.
I would imagine (perhaps wrongly!) that you're not a single parent working in a (very) full time role in an industry which prides itself on a lack of flexibility (I had colleagues who were secretly proud when we killed an intern through over-work) trying to balance a (full, of pets and the rest) life in the centre of a large conurbation. Whilst dealing with a stalker. And moving boats.
I have a stove. It looks bl00dy awful covered in fireguards etc and I am frequently too tired to take out the dogs for a late night pee, let alone remember to put the ash out so we don't all die of CO poisoning if I fall to sleep before I make it to bed, let alone clean the d*mn thing, and then the mutts who will walk in the grime as I open the guard to get to it, and then the boat, and then... Seriously, the stove polish is still on the old boat I'm selling, and I intend to leave it for the new owner!
Not everyone also has caged fluffies who require a basic level of heating if left for long-ish periods either. My old boat is happily winterised now and we're having fun cruising it anyway without additional heat/water etc.
Dear god! Please look after yourself, it sounds as if you have your hands full. I had the corporate career when I produced my one and only sprog (IVF, age 40) it was well stressful even with the support of a committed partner. I take my hat off to you managing it all on your own. Please use this forum to vent if you need, you will have my full attention if not that of all the members here! X Good grief, for heavens sake take care of yourself, you are, afterall, unique and as such well worth taking care of. Phil

When I first came to thunderboat I 'railed' a bit against anonymous 'heros' who were happy to be unpleasant to others from behind pseudonyms. I have always chosen to be open about my boat's name, and my name, and will not post words I am not happy to be identified with. So any post I make, although my 'signature' name is dogless (here and the other place when I was there) I sign off with my name. Rog I hate avatars with a vengeance, and always sign of with my name both here and over there and of course there is my bum, famous both here and there I reckon that if I have something to say I should be man enough to be responsible and own it Phil

I did notice on the two recent occasions when I renewed my Thames registrations for a couple of small launches I keep on the River that the lady on the the phone said "I will get your plates in the post today". Specifically avoiding the use of the word "Licence". Even though that is a term often used to describe the piece of paper you put on the boat to indicate you have paid for the registration certificate. EA seem to be a bit more straightforward than CRT in that respect. Exactly the same with Broads Authority only they refer to Toll Plaques, these have to be affixed in a very specific manner, either side of the bows so they can be read from either bank, the reg numbers stay with the boat and are supplied in a suitable size for the boat and again must be affixed in a specific manner, either side of the bows plus on the stern And woe betide you if you navigate without them , hefty fine awaits. Phil
