Its a nice photo but the position of the sofa I feel I would whack my skull on the way to standing up ! Probably not an issue as I suspect with the 4ft draft you have rather a lot of headroom in there The headroom is not as great as you would think, the side decks reduce the headroom to about 5'8" for about 4' the central area the headroom is about 7'. The headroom has been maximised as much as possible (in the picture the dark line along the deck is the top of the side keel. They and the kelson are exposed to save even the inch of the flooring) Of course it helps that I am not tall, my head just brushes the deckhead in a few places.

Homefire instant light logs are good for getting a cold stove hot quickly. After an hour I put ordinary smokeless fuel on, Stovewarm I think (not on boat currently) I plan to test the olive and charcoal nuggets soon. www.coals2u.co.uk/homefire-olive-briquettes

I find Martyrs work quite well if you can ignore the screaming:) Do Martyrs still exist? I was thinking that witches might be a suitable alternative but not sure if there are any reliable sources of witches at a sensible price these days. Times change. Perhaps Mr Fox could advise on this ?

Witches are quite rare on the canals but you may see one flying from Amsterdam to Birmingham on 21st December. Look to the skies in the East...

Yes, 7' across 5' fore and aft double glazed makes a big difference to the space, it looks like you didn't do what most people with keels do and put in windows below the side decks.

Is it a dog box I wonder. Just as an 'aside', why is it called a dog box?

No. Its a good question I assume its because it has the same general shape as an old fashioned kennel (aka dog box).
I did a bit of searching and also came across the word Mollycroft. A mollycroft roof would be nice on a boat - there are a few about.
I've got a 4x2 teak dog box above the saloon.
