I'd suggest the angle of the sides would make bugger all difference if the bottom is flat. (OK Mr picky pedant if it was only 2 degrees from horizontal and a mile wide it would, but it ain't so it don't)

I don't knowif it's normal these days but to leak test hulls when being built, a red substance was sprayed on the inside of a weld, and a white substance on the outside. If the red showed up on the outside there was a leaky weld. If water runs down the boat, say from a water pump leak in the front to the back which is lower, it picks up the red that was sprayed on during the build. The result is slightly pink water. If indeed it is coolant then normally you can feel the difference between coolant and water by rubbing finger and thumb in the liquid.
