Good evening good people (and Foxy ;-) )
Tomorrow, I'm finally going to get around to fitting the stove .
I bought everything (in kit form) I think need... although nothing of course has any instructions with it.
The hearth and mantle piece production I'm comfortable with... having printed out the solfitec pdf for stoves on boats - I've got my 25mm calcium thingy board and intend to make both the hearth and surround (complete with 10mm air gap) of that along with some nice grey granite tiles I got hold of last week...
The thing I AM concerned about (a side from cutting a 6 inch hole in the roof off the boat - eek) is how best to fit in the blanking plate at the back - the thing hasn't got a rope seal on it but it does have a "groove" into which the rope I bought would fit nicely. WHAT do I do with the ends of the rope? - do I soak lather the whole thing in fire cement before "turning it" to wedge it in?
ALSO - re the flue (single skin in the end as money ran out a long time ago)... I presume I wedge the thicker rope between IT and the collar to centre it ? - is it ok to lather that up with the heat resistant silicone type stuff that lime-kiln sent out with the kit or is that just for the collar to boat roof?
Your thoughts would be appreciated if you have time.
I'm currently sat (sitting?) on the boat with a beer in my hand having PAUSED dry January as a result of doing my first solo mooring manoeuvre in the dark (having filled up with water/showered and then done a load of washing after work)... AND the tumble dryer is now on too.
Cheers, Ginge.
