Look nick, it's not my fault that Geoff makes you go boating. It's not my fault your left at home alone with only self made entertainment. Perhaps a visit to your local Anne summers would give you an opportunity to sample other things that may fill your day? (Obviously you didn't take up the opportunity to explore the day care centre). ππ If this is your normal degree of factual accuracy then no wonder I treat what else you say with scant regard.
So, first sentence. Who is Geoff? My husband's name is Jeff. Of course it isn't your fault that we go boating - in fact I'd say we go boating despite your presence.
Next sentence. I am not home alone. Jeff has been off sick for the past 6 months so we spend every day in each other's company (apart from when I go gliding).
Third sentence. Anne Summers doest do bender gear as far as I know, so what possible interest could there be there?
So with that level of accuracy in your thoughts and writings, I'd say that you fully qualify to be a CRT boat logger/patrol officer. New job opportunity?
Nick, your about as fake as that kit boat you ride around in. ππ Oh, and I am genuinely sorry to hear Jeff's not been well. I hope that improves.

Nick, sometimes conversations are out of your scope because you do not have the relevant personal experience to justify fair comment or you don't have the local knowledge. Just for your information, if you were that EO cycling along the tow path and had passed the thick ice, you wouldn't need a Phd to work out that the ice is too thick for boats to travel safely a few hundred yards away. We were stuck a couple of weeks ago. There was no ice immediately around us. However 200 yds further on it was 2 inches thick. Other than that critisism, do carry on old chap. If you really think that being on a boat in ice is outside my scope, you are quite foolish to make that presumption and certainly wrong.
?... totally accepting that I am not familiar with the location in question) .
Exactly...so why bother?

I don't have a great deal of patience with argumentative types, (who do so simply to entertain themselves). Your a waste of space at times, and I therefore treat you accordingly.

Not to dissimilar to your posts on this thread then eh.

This reminds me of the kind of bollocks some people came up with on the other channel. The irony is your argument is based on no knowledge of the actual situation or locality. That makes everything you say subjective and void of factual information relating to it. What is very apparent is you seem to enjoy looking down your nose at everyone, that says a lot for your 'case' doesn't it? Anyway, I still reckon you're only here for the wind up, so as I say do carry on....

Exactly...so why bother? Why bother indeed when you completely miss the point! The point being that the chap in question won't have spent weeks moored in that place either, observing exactly what goes on. He will be using generic experience of such things as I would do (and as would anyone not actually spending weeks there). Whether in that specific location generic experience misled, well I can't say, but I can say that if that particular location exhibits abnormal behaviour then it is perhaps not too surprising that he got it wrong. If indeed he did get it wrong.

Do you mean argumentative types like those who are inconvenienced by something minor, complain about it, get a resolution, but then won't let it go and want to escalate the issue into some sort of war/demanding their pound of flesh delivered to the boat? Hmmmm, who does that remind me of!

Ooh, touchy aren't you! Reality hurts I guess
Is "twunt" a word for those who can't make their minds up?
<secretly quite like it, but don't tell anyone!>

The EO in question cycled up 2 miles through the Tring cutting where it was bleeding obvious the ice was very thick. Like with Jenlyn his excuse was that there was no ice around the boat so he could have moved. As an ex-PO I'd have thought there was enough intelligence to work out that he had a genuine case. It's nothing more than bullying, full stop. The chap in question is visibly stressed about the whole thing. All he has is the boat and a van....what do you have to fall back on Nick?

It's nothing more than bullying, full stop. The chap in question is visibly stressed about the whole thing. All he has is the boat and a van....what do you have to fall back on Nick? I'm not in favour of bullying behaviour from CRT chappies, however when you say "it was bleedin obvious the ice was very thick" could you explain exactly how it is obvious? Do you mean just by looking? Or by testing with an object? If you mean by looking then I refute that it's possible to tell by looking whether the ice is say 5 mm thick, or 50mm thick especially if there is no disturbance from wind etc. Perhaps you are expecting the EO to have greater abilities than is reasonable? Of course you could argue that he should have tested the ice thickness mechanically - fair enough but perhaps that is expecting a bit much. So in the case of Jenlyn and this other chappie you mentioned, why not move the boat up to the point where the ice is actually encountered? Then there can be no claim that there is no ice around the boat and the point is won.
