I have never come across batteries with just 85 cycles lifetime. Not that I have looked around much. Last batteries I bought were 100ah unbranded £55 each on ebay. They have m10 threaded posts which I prefer to ordinary batt terminals. El cheapos. For my low consumption off grid boat. Don't know how long I'll get but would be happy with a year or two. Aiming for a year or maybe two with cheap batts is a plan that works for many and is especially pertinent to low consumption users. Sod all the monitoring and molly-coddling, just use 'em and chuck 'em.

Yes. On my barge which has electric hook up most of the time I fitted 2 Rolls 4000 batteries as they get looked after properly by the truecharge charger.
I also don't really like large banks but I have noticed a proliferation of large solar arrays turning up on a lot of boats which would make a large bank more attractive. I still use my pair of BP 75w panels I bought about 15 years ago before solar was as cheap as chips. They were £350 each for a 75w 12v nominal panel !!!

Thing is they (batteries) are the same price sort of. The new ones I've chosen £100 each 120Ah 500 cycles, no discount for buying multiples. The Shield replacement £100 for 1, 115Ah 85 cycles, but £80 each if I buy 5 (they didnt publish the number of cycles, I had to ask). So if 85 cycles has lasted 3 years of my use, then 500 cycles should last 16 years with the same use, or even more if I'm only going down to 75% DoD (because I'm doubling the Ah capacity of the bank)

Well I wont be mixing old & new batteries. My current ones are according to the manufacture only good for 85 cycles at 50% DoD. & according to my log book I've been away from the marina for 90 nights (over 3 years), not including odd weekends that didnt get written down, or forgetting to turn the electric back on. My existing ones they no longer make the same capacity (ie their replacement is 115AH). So I think I'll get the original ones I chose in the 1st post that are supposed to be good for 500 cycles. good call.
