I really love some folk who many peeps haven't heard of.John Fulbright,Ray La Montagne,Raul Malo(lead singer with The Mavericks-what a counter tenor voice), First Aid Kit & Caro Emerald. There's also a lady called Kate Rusby who's my go to Christmas music-sorry to mention the 'C' word.I really enjoy googling folk other peeps suggest.I find some great music doing that.

The first record I bought was the chicken song one with "never met a nice south african" on the other side of it.
I was 12 years old and full of hope for a wonderful future of really silly things.

Awesome Carole King ... what a writer. Rog I once had the pleasure of a very agitated (over-tired, I expect) young man of about four or five whose mother was at the end of her rope in my car. I struggled to find some music that was appropriate for the said company. I settled on 'Tapestry'. The kid went out like a light. Result.

'After the Gold Rush' is an inspired composition by a brilliant artist who never gave a damn about writing populist music. But whenever I hear it I can't help but be reminded of 'Heavens Gate'.

I have the live performance of La Boheme from which this is taken recorded (from a BBC Four transmission) at home. Beautiful stage set ... magical performances ... just keep watching it Rog
