Have we come to a sort of foot shuffling truce? Phil Well we would perhaps have done so, but then you added a post. So no. We'll you will have to carry on by yourself because I'm bored now but feel free to include me in anymore little offerings that you have, if I feel inclined I may respond. Phil

Phil Much is made on Internet forums Phil of people wanting the 'last word'. Heres an actual though, what about people who want the 'first' word. Perhaps if you hadn't wanted that then the last few exchanges would never have happened.

Phil Yadda yadda I did giggle reading your reply to Mr Stabby's comment earlier Martin.... 'sad knacker' I thought it suited the situation perfectly! 👍

this place (or this thread at least) is reverting to a knacker's yard for testosterone fuelled saddos.
why don't those participating in unnecessary bravado fuck off for 24 hours and let the thread get back on course, or die a natural death, as a gesture of respect for the victims of yet another case of mindless criminal violence.

I think it went downhill after the second post TBH. What I don't understand is why someone would argue against bringing up this very sad subject and still give an opinion about it on more than one thread. Having said that, it's just the way TB works. Better to ignore rather than put up with controlling mods in my mind.

The irony is exquisite. A bravado testosterone fuelled post complaining about bravado testosterone posts, priceless. (In case you hadn't noticed it had all died down and now you have chosen to stir it up again this morning, what a nugget...)

Incorrect - I'd decided to knock it on the head as I had some study to do and was actually up till well after I posted, I'd checked back in saw Andy's post, had a titter at it and went to bed later about 3. Then you got up this morning and kicked it all off again. The only sad one around here is you you tit.

So back to the topic. It would appear that the police under labour may have to re-think how they address a developing terrorist attack on our streets. Ask them politely to stop perhaps?? www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-34836582/jeremy-corbyn-opposes-shoot-to-kill-policyThe Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has said in an interview with BBC Political Editor Laura Kuenssberg he is "not happy" with the shoot-to-kill policy in the event of a terror attack in the UK.

Check the date on that statement. Of course if he hasn't rescinded it, it may well still be his view.
I don't think it will be a popular one though.

However that is not what he was asked about, he was asked about the specific circumstances of an unfolding terror attack. As ever he dodged the question with a waffly response which leaves doubt as to whether he would actually sanction police shooting to kill during such an incident. How can you not endorse such a thing if you suspect a suicide bomber is about to detonate his or her device? Killing them is the only sure fire (no pun intended) of ensuring they are sufficiently incapacitated. Unless somebody knows different.

I'm not a big fan of a police state as I believe it just encourages criminals and even law abiding people to arm themselves but on the other hand I think in the particular circumstances of Saturday night they didn't really have a lot of options. 3 probably quite fit males armed with large knives stabbing people. I believe the police did have a duty to stop them as fast as possible.
Perhaps it would have been better to use some other tactic for disabling them rather than discharging 50 rounds, but what would that tactic be? It was reported that they appeared to be wearing explosives - that changes the argument as well. Its intriguing that they had imitation suicide "vests". I would have thought that would reduce the effectiveness of the attack because the police would be looking to neutralise rather than contain them.
Also feeds the conspiracy theories that the whole thing is a setup - much better off with the perpetrators dead in that case otherwise they might squeal !

However that is not what he was asked about, he was asked about the specific circumstances of an unfolding terror attack. In the video you posted he was asked something along the lines of 'Would you be happy to order Police or Military to shoot to kill'. You don't have to order the Police to shoot to kill when an attack is in progress, armed officers have that authority already.
