As above really. Removing old tape and the residue is a sod. And yes tried, acetone, petrol, w.spirit, meths, vinegar, Stanley blade, jizz, kicking, etc all just turn it sticker!
Can get it off eventually but what's gonna eat it?

Right now i tried to stop rugs from slipping on carpets by using double sided tape...a real oops moment as I then found the rugs destined to stay as the sticky double sided tape...stuck To remove I searched on line and recommendation of plastic knife and acetone with scrubbing motion worked best..I'm plodding my way removing yards of sticky tape with the forlorn hope daughter will not notice..sometimes I just don't think...

Paint thinners... never met anything it doesn't shift! Yes, cellulose thinners, in the scenario in question I would wait for a cooler day, or cooler time of day, then lay double-folded kitchen towel on the residue I wanted to remove, then soak the kitchen towel with thinners, then cover it all up with aluminium foil to stop it evaporating, and leave it to soak for 30 minutes before scraping it off.
