Just to say I hope Nick is having a peaceful pleasant evening and that the memory of challenging aspects of his day have faded. I do hope also he feels better for having a rant and that tomorrow brings sunshine, fair weather and a deserted canal.....

Well yes, we tied up in a very pleasant shape and then had a bottle of champagne. That definitely helped. The champagne was to celebrate Jeff's grandad dying (Jeff is in the will). Well actually, the miserable old cunt (not of the cut) is still alive but it's only a matter of a fairly short time. In case you think I am particularly heartless, he "died" a couple of years ago, as in he doesn't know who anybody is, can't feed himself, has to be winched in and out of bed etc. What is the point? He nearly died last week but some stupid doctor gave him antibiotics. Oh and he was a miserable old cunt when he still had some brain.

If you've come off your meds, now maybe a good time to think about getting back on them.

They'd know. 😱

Jeff's dad hates his (step) dad as the old git was very hurtful to him, Jeff's mum is more pragmatic but doesn't like him, and Jeff just wants the money. Personally I think "heartless" is keeping a demented person alive for several years when they don't know who they are, where they are, who anybody else is, and can't do basic human activities for themselves. You wouldn't treat a dog like that.

Anyway, as I nearly said right at the start, you can all piss off. This is my rant and if you want to have your own rants, well start your own threads!

You wouldn't treat a dog like that. agree 1000%. when a dog that we love so much is terminally ill and in pain we say that it is the kindest thing to put him to sleep, but when a human is in the same predicament a veneer of morality seems to cloud the judgment of many people in authority. 50 years ago the medical profession was able to exercise a bit of common sense under the radar, and we didn't have a growing population of sad, lonely or mindless old people like we do today. My mum was much loved and we kept her very close, but when she lost interest in life and just sat all day like a zombie (although her brain was still as sharp as pin) and told me on several occasions that she was just tired and wanted to go (age 97), there was no way she could achieve it. For years her doctor told her if she stopped her meds she risked a major stroke. When I moved her close to us, in a care home, her new doctor told her if she stopped her meds she would slip away peacefully, which is exactly what she did. My dad who had been very active (playing golf, reading at least 2 history books each week, and gardening, were his interests) had also long expressed the wish to die when he was no longer able to get about without great pain and stiffness. He suffered a major stroke at the age of 92, and doctors tried to ignore his living will when he developed pneumonia from lying motionless in a hospital bed; without the very angry involvement of my brother he would have ended up as a vegetable, instead he passed away peacefully. you can guess my feelings of disgust at those eejits shouting the odds outside a certain childrens' hospital. If this is a symptom of our PC world then I would like to find another planet where common sense prevails.
