So faster revving engine, geared down. That will attract cries of "slow down" even at 1mph! It does !!! even 30 + years ago there were grumps on the water. On the diesel electric boat I was developing the generator was doing 1500 rpm even when creeping along at less than a knot ........ I remember getting "slow down" shouts from dipsticks.

I remember getting "slow down" shouts from dipsticks. you are being unkind to dipsticks, at least they have a use, whereas Mr Shouty moored by his slack centreline, is not even useful as an ornament. I've noticed this, my thoughts were that they tie it as loose as possible on purpose. so every boat going past makes it bang around and then they can shout. Not that I've been shouted at yet.
