This thread is OK, Mrs Tabby's input much less so though. My Nan used to make marshmallow biscuits - take a plate full of Rich Tea biscuits, put a marshmallow placed on top of each one, nuked for a few seconds, then another biscuit squished on top of the now melted marshmallow. leave to cool, scoff at your leisure π I haven't had them in years, may have to introduce the dwarf to them at some point in the near future I can remember having biccies with mallow on top in the 70s,don't think I'd fancy them now.Back then,I used to like Iced Gems as well,tried them again a few years ago & it was like eating compacted cardboard with pastel concrete on top.No thanks.However,offer me a minty Yo Yo or Viscount & I'm yoursπ. Now ice cream wafers with mallow covered in choccy was a lovely treat with ice cream...but you are right about iced gems..I tried them to see if they tasted as they used to....there is either summit wrong with my memory or they've changed..ugh..dont think I'll seek out chocolate mallow biscuits...I'll leave that memory intact.

Back at our boat now. Chimney swept, gas on, 240v connected & 'intelligent' battery charger purring, wine opened (South African Chenin Blanc). No nasty smells, engine room dry. All seems to be in order. Start engine 0700 tomorrow to wake it up. Off to Jim Riley territory this week - will have to keep a low profile, heh! Are you venturing up the hill? My boat is currently between Tod and hebden. Don't know if going to it next week, got Littleborough Arts Festival, I got my arm twisted to join the committee.

In France the chocolate coated marsh mallow biscuits are called "tΓͺte de nΓ¨gre" (Negro's heads) why do I think this would not be an acceptable nickname in Englandland?

Are you venturing up the hill? Just come thru' HB & Tod and past the Blue Mosque of Rochdalistan on the Northern rattling-shed. Only to HB and Tod this time. Thought to cycle HB to Burnley, walk canal Tod to Littleboro', cycle Tod along Doghouse Lane ('tis be a true name!) to Cornholme (?check name), walk up Horsefold Lane to south of HB. Just taking it easy this holiday. Hurricane on Tuesday - if trees across t'Cut we shall buy a chainsaw and 'ave 'em for firewood. Quick dash to Birmingham now - back in time for tea. Scampi at Ye Olde Wetherspoons? Friday 20th is Lantern Parade 7pm, I'll be head and shoulders above the crowd. My brother is arriving in from Spain that day, so got lots of commitments, one of which might involve a boat trip in the Tod area with his grandspawn. Although I'll be working in the parade I'm more than happy to pet any little moomintrolls I find lurking in the park below me, they are so cute. Is the trad TB greeting Oi! Twat! btw?

I'm partial to fig rolls, although fig rolls are so morish that there is the danger of scoffing the lot in one sitting then suffering the consequences later on....

I remember the term "soggy biscuit" when I was at secondary school (Boys public school). I was aware that it was quite rude but have never actually worked out exactly what it was. I have decided not to look it up or click the link for fear of losing my innocence. .
They (other boys) also said things like spear chucker to refer to an Indian girl.
