jenlyn Have you found a decent motorsailer yet ? Istr kris put a link on the interesting boats thread which looked right up your street. That's if you can deal with long poles sticking up in the air with canvas attached I don't have time at the moment. I'm busy on something else. I'll hopefully get back to it by Easter. Of course if you spent less time putting inane comments on here...

Jenlyn, I take your point about some people (including yourself) having been shouting warnings about C&RT for a while, and people's views only beginning to change now (including mine).
I do think some of the changing views is a reflection of the effort you and others have put in, but also from the evidence of their own eyes whilst using the system.
I have made it a point to send e mails to C&RT when things have gone well in my view, but I have frequently sent e mails identifying when I believe they have got things wrong, could have done better, or simply are incompetent.
We seem to see less and less bankside staff, which is a shame.
Last year we were approached by Morrison staff (construction) who had been contracted to do work on Cape locks. They spoke to us at Hatton, asking if there were other locks nearby and requesting directions. Inspired great confidence when they didn't even know where the locks were.
I have recently got hold of a keb for onboard, as increasingly we find locks are no longer being cleared out.
Levels in flights are more often in need of adjustment, suggesting that this daily task is no longer considered necessary.
But I am aware, you know all this already.
Don't despise those of us who have slowly begun to see the harm you and others forewarned us of, but rather be pleased that at least the message is getting through.
There are some great people working for C&RT but I am increasingly of the opinion that management is letting the whole thing down.

We just need more boaters to wake up and realise what's happening rog before it's too late. It's things like parry borrowing Β£150 million that are really worrying.

It's just frustrating having the knowledge of what's happening, and being undermined by idiots like flincher, Norman and others when trying to forewarn. It worries myself and others that CRT will eventually use the get out clause of "beyond serviceable repair". It's not a case of if they use this, but when.

This is possibly true but after the boaters wake up, then what? This is why I rather dislike the anti-crt frenzy on here. It becomes hard to differentiate between real concerns and imaginary ones. I have absolutely no doubt that CRT are big time sub-optimal, but with 75% of the whinging on here being spurious, unfortunately the 25% of actual concern gets lost in the noise. In summary, choose your battles carefully.

In summary, choose your battles carefully. Thankfully mine appears to have been won. The thought of C&RT and the IWA making a bigger pigs ear than the EA currently do was almost too much to bear. Thankfully none of them seem to have a pot to piss in and DEFRA have rightly kicked it into the long grass leaving C&RT to balls up the ditches completely unchecked. Not great for those of you on C&RT waters but for once I can say 'I'm okish Jack'
